the recent cover version - not sure who by - of michael jacksons Beat it is ropey. esp the bit where the guiarist tries to do Eddi eVan Halens' solo from the song.

ok, he doesn't try to match it note for note but what we end up with is utter rubbish too.

EVH recorded that guitar tracks for that song in 15 minutes did you know?? smile
Fallout Boy, but the guitarist is John Mayer, one of the finest young guitarists out there. EVH impressions aren't exactly his thing but I thought he did a good job of it, far better than if some soulless studio shredder had done it note for note anyway
One-hit-wonder new-fad rock band?

Cover a Jackson song.

Just remembered.

Emma Bunton did a cover of 'Downtown'.
What an absolute waste of time and effort.

I thought that it was a pretty poor cover all round, it just sounds pretty bland.

But officially the worst cover version :

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a102930/dion-eff...

Celine Dion covering AC/DC??? Which imbecile ever thought that could be a good idea? Tori Amos did an amazing version of Smells Like Teen Spirit, maybe that gave Dions people a "good" idea?

Disgrace, well apart from the mentioned, Mike Flowers cover of Wonderful was so bad, death was not good enough for him.

I'm waiting for someone to post Avril Lavigne trying to do System of a Down (Chop Suey, I think). I won't post it myself on public health grounds, but I must say:

Apocalypticas metallica covers aren't at all bad, but they do take a slightly different angle.

Cascada's Because The Night, like almost every dance cover of a decent track it manages to turn it completely soulless.

That was murder, but as Minimatt points out, the Shat committed all-out genocide. Once you've heard " I'ma Rock. It. Man " life will never look quite so good again.
