OK, folks. It's time to get serious.

Don't play this at work. It's Jim Davidson, singing White Christmas.

In a "comedy Jamaican" voice.

But that, although it's recorded by a , has nothing - nothing - on this version of The Final Countdown.

I seem to remember Cheryl Crowe covering a Guns n Roses song (sweet child of mine?)and actually shouting at the radio to stop. It was poor, very very poor.

the recent cover version - not sure who by - of michael jacksons Beat it is ropey. esp the bit where the guiarist tries to do Eddi eVan Halens' solo from the song.

ok, he doesn't try to match it note for note but what we end up with is utter rubbish too.

EVH recorded that guitar tracks for that song in 15 minutes did you know?? smile
Fallout Boy, but the guitarist is John Mayer, one of the finest young guitarists out there. EVH impressions aren't exactly his thing but I thought he did a good job of it, far better than if some soulless studio shredder had done it note for note anyway
I'm with you on the Solo. The song isn't too awful but i have to admit John Mayer's solo was nothing short of ordinary.. They are mighty big shoes to copy if Eddie Van Halen did the original so if you're gonna take it on make sure its either as good or totally different. This seemed like a rather half baked neither one nor the other to me..

Would be more interested to hear someone like Jeff Beck do his own thing or John Petrucci of Dream Theater do something potentially more bonkers than the original.

I thought that it was a pretty poor cover all round, it just sounds pretty bland.
