Sone Roses S/T is definitely the best of it's genre (as previosuly stated). An indie classic.

But best album ever is pushing it a bit

It doesn't have to the best album ever, it's quite sufficient for it to be a top album you should have in your collection.

Tosh.

OK Computer and The Bends are two of the most finely crafted peices of guitar music ever made - absolutely incredible works

Whats the story is largely a collection of nursery rhymes though.

I must confess I never got what the fuss was about with this album. Sure it has a few great tracks on it, but it doesn't strike as being anything particulary special or groundbreaking. I don't have any strong feelings about it either way, and I suppose I like music to leave me feeling something other than "ho hum."

The Bends is a spendid album, what's the story however is for people who sing "en-ger-land" in pubs and at wembly. even noel said it's just a cash cow album.

ian brown = legend
Surely not ?

I saw him as a support for The Manics a few years ago, he was off his face and utterly ste.Even F.E.A.R. was unrecognisable.

Legend ? I think not.
I've seen him about 4 or 5 times. Each time it was like he was a different person, when he want to he can put on a fantastic show - when he's on form he's fantastic but can be a bit of a tool. I'd go and see him another 5 times. Legend.

FEAR is a chooon and a half, especially the remix version.

Good tracks on it, not even a great album imo.

They were awesome live at about the time the album was released but always had the potential to be shambolic! Much better in tiny venues and it probably helped if you were in the right sort of head space wink

The album is amazing though, absolute soundtrack to thsat time and hasnt dated like much of the stuff from the time.

Agree - love the Stone Roses.
IIRC there was a 'Top 50(?) British albums' in Q magazine a while back, voted by the readers. It made the top 20.

It was an appalling appearance.
A real shame because lots of people went to see him.

Their first album was very good, but I must say that I think Second Coming was a far better album.

Although thinking about it now, the first album was pretty ground braking.

Slightly off topic but I just love Happy Ever After from Ian Brown's album Solarized, just wish it was a bit longer in terms of play length...

I was listening to 6 music over the holidays and they featured a quote from Manny, stating that the Roses will be re-forming for dates in 2009...
