Looking to get a nice sounding semi acoustic and get right back into playing again.

I like a nice warm sound, nothing too harsh or overly loud.

Will be used for chord work and also some solo/arppegio stuff too.

Any good recomendations for the budget end of the scale? Couple of hundred quid tops.

Cheers,
Olie

semi-acoustic or electro-acoustic?

i will go with my interpretation, so forgive me if i am wide of the mark.

i have just sold one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gretsch-Electromatic-White-E...

excellent guitar for the money, especially with a £30 pro set-up. build quality on mine was superb and it was way more versatile thant you would expect. acoustically very warm and resonant, can be made very acoustic like with lighter guage strings. plugged it it can handle anythng you want it to, the reputation as a country/rockabilly guitar is deserved but it is by no measns limited to those.

i reckon the one above will go for £3-350 [mine sold for £450 but i am an excellent salesman smile ] but the blue or red ones go for less.

this epi joe pass looks good value too:

if you are prepared to hunt them, or can stretch the budget a little, i would highly reccommend something like this hofner:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/very-early-55-56-hofner-sena...

i had a senator and loved it, but unfortunately it was stolen last year frown beautiful tone and a georgeous guitar to look at too! the necks are a little thicker than a modern guitar but you adjust easily and i found there was more space for my sausage fingers. also has the benefit of being largely handmade using real wood, unlike anything modern you will find at this price.

godin's 5th avenue is worth the money of you can find one. £300 for a brand new canadian made guitar is a silly price:

if you are after a thinline, any of the epiphone sheraton/casino/riviera's will cut it, as will this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Hofner-Verythin-in-Red-S...

the thinlines won;t be as full sounding unplugged though.

if you meant electro acoustics then ignore me, but can't help you there as i'm a sucker for archtops.

Cheers squire, i was originally meaning an acoustic with a pick-up but looking at those electro-acoustics i might have to go have a play of one and see how they handle.

Input much appreciated. ta.
