Does anyone remember the rock group Rush from the 70s?

I'd forgotten them till you reminded me.

Diabolical ear knives and razors.

At least Rainbow & Scorpions camped & spangled it up with catchy choruses and sparkly lycra leggings.
Chalk and Cheese.
I don't think i have any albums of theirs....are they any good?
Great if you ask me. Only bands of which I have every album are Led Zeppelin and Rush.

Try picking up Hemispheres ('78) or Moving Pictures ('81) on CD. Should be able to get them in a bargain bucket somewhere. The latest album, Snakes and Arrows is also superb.

You won't be disappointed!

Presto isn't their best. Counterparts/Vapor Trails/Snakes and Arrows are all returns to form.

Live, they are better than ever. The humour is still there. The lil' Rush intro on S&A tour was great.....

Or robot ears.

yes

A band well beloved by musicians and musos for their intelligence and interest rather than by the general populace for their catchy hooks, danceable beats and dooby-doo lyrics.

Lets face it - attempting to rock out to something in 13/8 just isn't easy. hehe

I'm amazed they are as massively popular as they are, frankly. All the other stuff I like (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani etc) is monumentally unpopular.

I first saw them in 1981 and have seen them about 5 times since. Great band, I love the Perm Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals era.

Rush have good songs. Vai and Satriani don't.

Spot on there. The musicianship of Rush/Vai/Satriani is all good, but Rush write damn fine songs. Pearts lyrics are superb.

snigger

Someone told me I HAD to like Arctic Monkeys because they are "intelligent" musicians and it simply made me hate their audio carcrash even more.

You don't have to like anything because anyone else says you should.

Similarly you don't have to believe others are somehow wrong because they do.

Each to their own. All art is appreciated subjectively.

A vast swath of the population, for example, think Mamma Mia is high entertainment.

So is intelligence.

Don't have an air guitar about it!

They are just a band I remember, as per the OP, mostly for their dullness and crapness.
