Watching the duel scene from Crossroads got me thinking bout one of my roomates in Pompey who used to listen too Steve Vai/Stevie Ray Vaughan/Jimmy Hendrix et al, and it got me thinking, I need a new album for my journey to work and was wondering what the best albums (best representation of their work is) for Steve Vai & Stevie Ray.

To summarise, if I were to get one of there albums (for now!) what should it be

Cheers

My favourite SRV album is Soul II Soul - think it was about the 3rd one he released but most of the greatest hits ones have some excellent stuff on them.

Passion and Warfare for Vai, other than the Zappa stuff

Everything else is just a bit too "alieny" for me

ETA - I'd also go for some Satriani, Flying in a Blue Dream for the oldies and the latest one is actually growing on me despite the title

At the risk of sounding like Alan Partidge 'The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble' is fantastic.

Don't care much for Vai or Satch although Vai's 'The Audience Is Listening' and Satriani's Surfing and Blue Dream albums are ok.

If you like shredders try Dream Theater.

Easy.

SRV = "Texas Flood"
Vai = "Passion & Warfare"

Classics both.

If you like screaming vocals, may I also suggest Vai's 'Sex and Religion'.
