I have a good friend with a birthday coming up and am stuck for gift ideas. She used to play the piano a lot, but was forced to give it up (house moves, living arrangements etc.). She's now in her own place so has ordered a digital piano and is waiting for it to be delivered. Over the last couple of months she's become completely obsessed with the piano and getting back into playing, so for her birthday I figured I'd find something piano related, but am really struggling.

I'm not really looking to spend more than £50 or so, but can't think of anything other than music (CDs) or music (sheet).

Anyone got any suggestions? I'm a guitarist and could think of loads of accessories and stuff in that price range, but no real pianoy things.

How about a voucher from the likes of this lot - then when she gets the urge for a certain piece, she can go download it?

Metronome?

That's about it for piano gadgets really!

May be worth checking if the digital piano has all of the required pedals - I know that bizarrely, some don't come with a sustain or soft pedal as standard.

What sort of music does she play? And how good is she?

If you look at popular/rock music scores for piano (eg "play along with XYZ") then be vary careful as a lot of them ae rubbish for solo piano.

Ludovico Einaudi is probably a safe bet if she doesnt already have any of his stuff... modern classical, not particularly difficult stuff that sounds good.

Acessories are tricky.. a good pair of headphones maybe (if she'd ever need them).. agree withthe pedal comments above...

Or what about an amp?.. I know my electric piano could do with a bit more oomph (esp for the church organ modehehe)
