Having just posted on the latest oldies thread, I ended up surfing U tube music vids for a while, and it got me thinking.....

I can remember cycling as a 15 year old using two small portable radios, with earphone sockets (mono, not stereo) and two earpieces, this gave me a headful of music, and to me it sounded wonderful. Anyway....I'm going off tack.

1982 was the year I left school, and during the middle part of the year. From somewhere around May through to August there was a song in the charts. I cannot remember either group or song title,it was definitely in the top 40 of the time as I remember listening to it on Radio One.

The only thing I can remember about it now is that it had a sort of "middle eight" instrumental break, but instead of an instrument it was someone whistling a sort of slowish tune, with a little music way in the background.

Would be very grateful if this rings a bell with anybody....

Right. So you are basically asking for a list of songs with whistling in ?

1. Scorpions - Wind Of Change ?
2. Bryan Ferry - Jealous Guy ? Bryan Ferry's always good for a bit of whistling.

Jealous Guy was written buy Lennon, but Ferry did a cover of it, in the 80s which is probably more famous.

I'm not going to research the release dates for the OP, he can do that himself.

In the music video to Wind of change, there was the tearing down of the Berlin wall, which would mean 1989'ish.

sadly if it was Roxy music I would already have it....
My musical knowledge is reasonable from the 80's, but I cant remember this particular group or wether they did anything else. Could be a one hit wonder.

Not Scorpions, not Roxy music
but thanks for your thoughts ....

Thats a good effort...but sadly not it.

Its just one of those songs that just sort of hooked you in, and the timescale was definitely 1982, between about May and August.

I hazily remember a song with whistling in the bit of lyrics went "blue skies all of them gone -nothing but blue skies from now on"

Just thought of another - summertime by the fun boy three

Wild guess

Christian by China Crisis. No whistling but a high pitched similar noise in there.

Nope, none of the above suggestions, and still no further forward.

Thanks for your thoughts........
