I just found this part of the forum, so I'm not sure what the PH music scene is, but I thought I'd post up some relatively unknown music if anyone likes to explore. I've recently been getting into some lesser heard of music with various 'cultured', but cool influences from overseas being mixed in and worked on.
It maybe stems from being at final year in uni and having loads of people who have these connections to random music from around the world introducing music when we gather round to, er, smoke the special cigs.

Buraka Some Sistema are my favourite right now. They play what is called Kuduro and its sort of African influenced electronic music?? It all starts off pretty slow and then picks up.

Now I don't know exactly what 'genre' Diplo is in, because I don't really get worked up with classifying music, but he's from Philadelphia and makes some really nice remixes.

This is a song from his South American flavoured section of his album.

not sure if that song is easy to just 'get' on its own, because I always hear the rest of the whole mix building up, but I like it on its own anyway.

Then there's Santogold who sings one of my favourite feel good tunes of the moment called Lights Out, remixed by Tepr Emo

And theres a real nice santogold and diplo remix that I just think sounds so pure, but still up there.

Not sure if anyone will appreciate that, but I'm sure there's always people out there who want to sample a bit of everything, so this is for you. I have had some good times listening to extended mixes of this sort of stuff smokinwobble
Does anyone else listen to anything similar? And not just the 'flavoured' stuff. I'm always open to listening to new artists and DJs.

  • I do realise that this may well be totally off the mark for the PH massive smile
