I've just finished watching the 1995 SRV tribute concert which was brilliant and wonder why all the fuss about SRV and so little about Rory.

Both could certainly play a bit but for mine SRV was a bit shallow by comparison to Rory.

Why is this so ???

I always felt SRV was always trying too hard. He seemed to be trying to live up to what he thought people wanted him to be, if you see what I mean. Rory Gallagher always seemed slightly surprised at how good people thought he was.

Both.

Rory had a great grasp of original 1920's Delta Blues, but could adapt it to suit a 'leccy Strat.

Stevie took electric Chicago blues (a la Son Seals / Muddy Waters / Buddy Guy / T-Bone Walker) and made it faster, more mainstream, but no less soulful.

Giants of blues, the pair of them.

I always wonder how his guitar look so worn.I have not listen to him as much but I like SRV.
