Where's the best place to off load a collection? I have about 160 CDs that I never play anymore

How about Musicmagpie. Simply enter the barcode of an item (DVD's, CD's and games) and Musicmagpie will instantly identify it, give you a quote and send you freepost labels to return it with.

Anything non-mainstream or rare?

Otherwise about 1p each down the Music Exchange in Notting Hill.

CDs are dying as a medium, vinyl and downloads will be the thing.

Ive used music magpie, alot of people are put of my the small amounts paid, but theres no fees or postage like ebay/paypal. They just send you a cheque. Ive just offloaded 10 DVDs for £6. not a great amount, but its money for an old format

I do, and have downloaded all my cd's to my hard drive. Haven't bought a cd for over 2 years now, I think

Buy yourself a usb HD to back them up on. (PCW advertising 320G for £60 currently)

Don't ask me how I come to recommend this, but I will say re-ripping several hundred CDs/vinyls is boring.

I threw away the plastic boxes, then store the discs and paper covers in a metallic dj type box. They hardly take up any space that way smile

Isn't that a comment for the lounge?

Take them to a car boot? Went to one yesterday and there were 1000s of them. £2.50 for the expensive ones thumbup

I like CD's, having no net access at home and and old Pc I like having them as backups (and for the car)

Vinyl is a different beast, some of it might be desirable/collectable... Please check before getting rid.
