just got home after seeing 'DC at the o2, is the world going mad? during a number of songs there was a wave of mobile phones held aloft as the numpties recorded the particular song - why??? if they can afford a ticket surely they can afford to buy a dvd - when for goodness sake are those muppets ever going to watch/listen to whatever they managed to get a shot of? and why not actually watch the band rather than messing around with their phones. rant over.

Maybe it's the new Health and Safety alternative to waving your lit lighter since they introduced no-smoking in public areas.

And when they play it back the picture is all wobbly and the sound is unintelligible because the microphone was overwhelmed by the volume.

At the Metallica fan club gig at the O2 last year, James told people to put their phones away and enjoy the show - something along the lines of "putting a crappy clip on Youtube won't make you famous". Well said.

While I'm on the subject, another thing that annoys me is people that have to keep going to the bar (then the toilet) during a gig. I was at the O2 on Tuesday to see AC/DC. Not only does that opportunity not happen very often, but I, like everyone else, had paid about £50 for the ticket. I don't want to miss one second of a show like that, yet some people just wander in & out as if it's a covers band at their local pub. If they're not bothered about seeing the band, then don't buy a ticket.

there is footage of dave grohl doing one of the acoustic songs off skin and bones and someone is recording, dave gets pissed off and has a go at the person unaware that this other guy is recording.

i must go to different gigs, people all seem too busy trying to stay upright to film it on their phones wink

I was there =D

just thought id throw that in. the people barging infront of you then holding their stty camera up like some sort of artifact pissed me off royally but DC more than made up for it.

Totally agree with the points about cameras...and people walking out.
I saw AC/DC on Tuesday night at the O2 sat in one of the boxes (freebie from a mate...bonus!) and couldn't believe the constant stream of people walking in and out. Literally throughout the whole show the aisles looked like they do at the Emirates with 5 minutes to go!

BTW, did anyone else find the volume excessively loud at the AC/DC shows? I found it was pretty hard to pick out the vocals for long periods, and my ears are still ringing now. Having played in several bands and been to plenty of gigs of all sizes, that still seemed really excessive to me. The sound would have been far better if the volume had been lower.

Still, Angus' tone was absolutely spot on, especially in The Jack evil

The volume seemed quite normal to me. Have you ever seen Motorhead or Airbourne? yikes
