Was at the Slamdunk festival over the weekend in Leeds.
Caught sets from Beartooth & Bury Tomorrow.
Enjoyed both quite a lot. Bury Tomorrow are quite proud to be "metalcore" however inbetween screaming songs the lead singer is a middle class youth from Hampshire with the accent to match.

Death, Havok and Bolt Thrower make up my current listening.
I'm yet to find a band that can match Death in the way there songs are constructed- just fantastic metal. Havok are great to, nice old school sound to them. Bolt Thrower can be a bit hit or miss, but have a few crackers.
bolt thrower!...now there's a blast from the past!......they did a song with a london rap crew called gunshot...back in the 90s...a song called mind of a razor and it was fking brilliantI'm yet to find a band that can match Death in the way there songs are constructed- just fantastic metal. SikTh - The Future In Whose Eyes?
As with every SikTh release it took me 3-4 listens before it all fully clicked. It doesn't have the sheer genius and relative lightness of touch of DOAD, or the pure fresh innovation of Opacities. But, nonetheless...
What. An. Album.
It's like it's crafted from something else again, and is altogether a hell of a lot darker than what's gone before (something that started with Opactiies tbf).
Golden Cufflinks is probably my fave off the album, down to its driving bassline

But Riddles of Humanity is another fave

Managed to get my name down in the 1st 250 as well for previously unreleased Middle Class Rut material. I know it's not metal, but it qualifies under heavy rock imo. Looks like they're starting to work on new material as well.
COG have also been back together for a bit now and touring, so fingers crossed for some new material from them soon.

haven't gelled with the new sikth album totally yet....but it's been under a lot of rotational pressure in the car...
it's had to compete with the new northlane album "mesmer"...superb stuff,

along with new uneven structure, ocean grove, powerflo, and a little bit of guilty pleasure in the new bodycount album
i don't care if i get shot down...i fkin love this, even though i'll probably tire of it in 5 minutes...

So they aren't Death Metal or Nu Metal or anything to stand up to Machine Head or Ramstein, not even Metal really more somewhere between new rock and pop punk maybe, but what do you guys think of Royal Blood?
They're relative new kids on the block, played at Glastonbury though, and I really like their guitar. Don't know if they're brits or US but it strikes me that they sound like american rock, maybe post punk early heavy rock. Lots of bass, lots of strong guitar riffs. I think its similar to Rise Against's Endgame album or maybe even Nickelback's Burn it to the ground, kind of thing.

Currently listening to some old school Heavy/Speed/Thrash (borderling Black at times), could have been made 30+ years ago. Pretty good, it's fairly rare that something in this style which entertain me for more than a couple of songs:

For a band so popular, there's definitely some heavy riffs in there but the softer/quiet moments tend to annoy me. They're very much a singalong type effort, rather than one you'd sit and concentrate listening to the actual music.
