Saw Primordial on Friday night, they were amazing! One of the best live bands I've seen in quite a while, Alan, the lead singer has brilliant stage presence and some pretty good banter (not normally a black metal thing I know!). Fen and Crom Dubh who supported were both pretty good as well with both offering an alternative spin on the black metal themes.

New Mastodon today - first spin through at the moment - a lot of great moments so far. Looking forward to having time and my sennheisers to sink into this one!
Also SikTh announced their new album "The Future In Whose Eyes?" is coming 2nd of June. First song "Vivid" is available for streaming

Hate to say it but I'm not feeling it as instantly as any previous release. Dare I say it but I think the absence of Justin Hill reverberates through the musicAlso SikTh announced their new album "The Future In Whose Eyes?" is coming 2nd of June. First song "Vivid" is available for streaming

Glad out enjoyed it. I've seen them a couple of times, most recently in Dublin last year. Definitely a good live band with good presence etc, but I do struggle to get into a lot of their material. Perhaps only a handful of songs I actually like. They headlined the Dublin gig but I was there for the support of Mgla and Urfaust. My next gig is Possession in London, I have high hopes. It's only £8 anyway.

Glad other people are enjoying Mastodon.
Re: SikTh I loved it on first listen but I haven't felt inclined to keep going back. Did the same with Philistine Philosophies though and I ended up loving the Opacities EP...
Which SikTh records did you listen to? I find their older records far more imploring than their newer album.Re: SikTh I loved it on first listen but I haven't felt inclined to keep going back. Did the same with Philistine Philosophies though and I ended up loving the Opacities EP...

Regarding their back catalogue I love Trees..., DOADD and Opacities and have been listening to SikTh since around 2007... just after they split up! (same thing I did with RATM). I did see them at Download 2006 but I wasn't a fan at the time. Luckily they are back together and I have seen them twice since the reunion. Epic both times. Standout tracks on Trees for me are "Peep Show", "Pussy Foot" and "Skies of Millenium Night". on Death of a Dead Day are "Bland Street Bloom", "Summer Rain", "Sanguine Seas of Bigotry", "Part of the Friction" and "Mermaid Slur".
Weirdly with SikTh I have just looked at the tracks and there's many that I can't remember what they go like, but I know if I listen to them I'll be thinking "Oh yeah, this one is awesome too!".
I'll check out the new Masotodon I think.
Totally random but just seen this on YT- Gaga and Metallica

She's actually not a bad female metal/rock singer! Certainly improves Metallica no end.

Only thing I've seen was their youtube video talking about their albums of 2016. I agreed with Black Peaks so I enjoyed it. Haven't bothered checking anything else out though.
I go through phazes of listening to the podcast, nearly always end up buying an album Ive never heard of after listening to them. They do a kind of radio show everyday on youtube, basically a playlist with them introducing each track, stick it on at work they are pretty cool.https://www.youtube.com/user/beezsaysyo/playlists
