Any of you chaps listened to Greta Van Fleet at all? It's heavily Led Zep/AC-DC/Rush influenced and I just cannot stop listening to it! These two tunes give you a good flavour.

Black Smoke Rising

Highway Tune
Never heard of them until I caught them on the Download highlights on Sky Arts.
They only played 1 song but to me they sounded like a Zeppelin tribute band only the singer has the voice of a child lol

Liking This more than I probably should. Sounds like every other Brutal Death Metal band, yet oddly has its own character. Nice idea for a video as well.

Been on the Atmospheric Black Metal of late:-

Lumnos - Existentialism
Ah Ciliz
Chiral

Also new Mesarthim and (I think?) Leviathan out, so that's more to investigate.
Deafheaven are worth a listen if you're interested in that sorta thing IMO. Great band.
Møl

Their album Jord came out today. Try it maybe.
This seemed to go by without comment and I feel like people are missing out, I only got it yesterday afternoon but I've just finished listening for the fourth time, it's brilliant, It's been a while since an album has had me hooked so quickly.

That Deserter record sent me off on a nostalgia trip, so have some favourites from way back when...

Vendetta - Brain Damage
Anacrusis - Dream Again
Forbidden - Chalice of Blood
Omen - Termination
Nuclear Assault - Inherited Hell
Acid Reign - Life in Forms

Inherited Hell is probably my favourite Nuclear Assault song - just has everything that made me love 'em so much.

It's undoubtedly rose tinted glasses, but even though I listen to a stack of modern metal, it doesn't seem to have the character of a lot of this stuff. It's probably better by objective measures, but just lacks the spark that existed back then somehow?

They were just mentioned as a band to check out on the Riot Act podcast (worth a listen).

I listened to two tracks. It's like Dillinger for me. So mad and frenetic that I can't enjoy it. Which is odd because I love SikTh

I know what you mean. I loved the debut "Orange Mathematics", but despite listening to all sorts of extreme metal over the years, I struggle to listen to it in one sitting.

so....with all this post hardcore goodness coming right back from the 90s i've been immersing myself in it once again. chaka malik and chris traynor dropping strong hints about an orange 9mm reunion and new material on instagram....which if it happened this year would be epic because that would mean new quicksand, glassjaw and 9mm all in one year!!!!

anyway, going back in i have inevitably stumbled across newer bands that have emerged more recently but that definitely wave the post hardcore banner....

i give you turnstile....fantastic.

I'll donate twenty quid to charity if every one of those gigs happens - they always seem to have visa problems, meltdowns or some sort of trouble hehe

This popped up on Bandcamp, and is rather enjoyable:-

Imperialist

I'm a sucker for space themed Black Metal, from the weird moody atmospheric stuff through to thrashier offerings such as Hoth, so enjoying this quite a lot. Few borrowed Emperor riffs to my ears, but I'll let them off. Nice Voi-Vod-y logo as well, which always help.

Another random Bandcamp find:-

Svartmalm

Killer atmosphere, and reminds me of Ashtar's Ilmasaari, which was another random find that became a firm favourite.
