Saw that just the other day. I was just a tiny bit too young to catch it first time round, so discovered that scene after it had mostly dissolved, but War in My Head is awesome. Ferocious speed for back then.

It's insanely good. Well worth the wait.

Played it 3 times already, can't remember the last album that made me feel this good and not disappointing even slightly.

I was glad they hadn’t completely changed and forgotten what made them sound so great. Looking forward to hearing the rest of it.

Yep, it's up their with some of their best stuff. I've been a follower since just before their first album and I remember playing that on repeat. Loved Iowa as well, still a great and brutal album.

What I found after that was that their follow up albums were all really good but there were stand out tracks and other parts merged together.

This new album seems to consist of mostly stand out tracks. Despite the fact that three band members are relatively new as well, they're making some good sounds!

Still no idea who Tortilla Face is either.

Very much this. I think I've played it 7 or 8 times now. It's exceptional. I'm a huge fan of the self titled album which I think is their best album (as I was there at the start and have memories to go with it) but there is something about this new album. It's very polished. I think this could be very important for them.

Same thoughts from me too on this one. Big album and puts them back on the map.

Still got some big treats to come too:
New Killswitch Engage - very excited to hear this (plus Howard appears on a track which cant be a bad thing)
New Korn - expecting something very dark after his sad news.
New Tool - dont need to say anything, it will be epic.
New Of Mice & Men - not the biggest fan of Aaron but could be an interesting listen.
New Wednesday 13 - bit of nostalgia for me, one of the bands that got me into metal.

Add that to what has already been released and its been a great year

Yeah the first one is an absolute classic and contains tracks that really stood the test of time and sound heavy today. Despite being 'nu-metal' at the time, it's simply not dated.

Like you I a time period associated with the album, was at college and recall reading in Kerrang about the band and being fascinated with the image. Then heard 'Eyeless' on a freebie CD and I was sold.

Like you say the new one is very polished but still as heavy but also one of those albums that deserves a proper listen. I think their previous albums you could probably know on first play through which songs will be your favourites.

Interesting as well that they produce such a great album having lost three original members. I wonder how much input the newer members have had or old members bringing ideas to the forefront more.

Spirit of independence which came with Kerrang? I still have that CD. Saw them at Portsmouth Guildhall on 3rd March 2000 with Kittie and OMS.

I've posted elsewhere but there is so much hype around them now, "look at their new masks" "which mask is best" etc etc. Back then we knew so little about them, just the one song on the above CD. We didn't even know their names. Simpler times.

That's the one!! Yellow cover from what I recall could be wrong. I still have that somewhere as well which I kept purely because of that track.

There was definitely the mystery behind them back then, although it wasn't long until Stone Sour were out and we knew what Corey Taylor and Jim Root looked like.

Jeez... Kittie... I bought that album (second hand, if that makes it any better). I found it again quite a few years ago... ruddy awful!

Always did like OMS though.

Ok, now I'm not one of their biggest fans - I like a few tracks they've done, but otherwise a bit meh about them.

However

I'm now on about my 8th listen to We Are Not Your Kind and I feckin' love it. For me it just seems a much more mature piece of work than their previous stuff, and with a much greater depth to it. My absolute favourites have to be Nero Forte, Spiders, Not Long For This World and Solway Firth.

It's done me a massive favour as well, as it's interrupted me playing non-stop Tool, which I was in danger of burning out on again before their new piece drops! laugh

Can't say I ever listened to Kittie although remember them.

I have a couple of One Minute Silence albums though, still sounds good now.
