This is really rather good.

Agrimonia - Hunted
Agrimonia are excellent- their 2018 album Awaken is right up there with the best crusty/sludgy post metal I've heard. Quite reminiscent of the likes of Fall of Efrafa, Anopheli or Morrow. But with less cello.

The range of Tati's voice is just insane, gives me goosebumps towards the end.

Today I've mostly been listening to the rather unsavorily-named stfker's new album, the also unsavouriy-named "Sex with Dead Body".
It's actually very good- members of Nuke and a few other Detroit bands doing a punky first-wave black metal album. Bit like a dirtier Midnight.

I tried to watch them at Download last year, they had been dumped in the ten that serves as the 4th stage, we turned up fifteen minutes before they came on hoping to get inside - no chance, it was totally packed and you couldn't even get close to the perimeter of the tent.

Great band yes

I'd love to see them, they were supposed to be doing a gig in Manchester this summer but obviously not happening now.

Same here.

Luckily I got in there for that Conjurer performance (much better band and performance in my opinion).

It was empty for Ne Obliviscaris and they were the best I saw in there.

No Idea why it’s taken so long as Anthrax are one of my favourite bands (especially the John Bush albums but that’s another thread), but just listened to S.O.D. Fantastic!!!!

Related discussion, but of all the original Big Four, I get the sense Anthrax are the only ones that have actually enjoyed being a band over the last twenty years or so. There's just that little extra street edge to them. Probably held them back a bit way back then, but they just seem the most honest of the lot.

Although Reading wouldn't normally be on my agenda, with RATM playing this year I had booked it.

Just had the email from ticket master that the events been cancelled - so my 20 year wait to see RATM continues...

Announcement -

Important update about your event!

The event organisers have been in touch with the following information:

"Reading will no longer be taking place this year. We’ve been closely monitoring this unprecedented situation and we were hopeful we could deliver the ultimate festival to you in August, something to look forward to in these strange and confusing times. However, it has become clear that it’s just not possible for this year’s festival to go ahead.

We want to extend our gratitude to our teams, artists and partners who work so hard each year. And to our fans, we’re nothing without you – we thank you for your continued support and understanding.

We’re already counting down the days to when we’re back in the fields we call home for the August Bank holiday weekend. We promise you that Reading 2021 will be worth the wait.

Finally, we encourage everyone to continue supporting our emergency services, who provide invaluable support and assistance at all our events and we again express our gratitude, admiration and thanks for their dedication and professionalism which is proving so vital at this time.

Keep safe, keep healthy and look after each other. "

Sadly I think the same will come of my lifelong quest to see Faith No More. Got tickets for them in June and I just can't see it going ahead. I had tickets for their King For A day tour but it was cancelled following the poor album reception. Then failed to get tickets the next time around, which was their last before breaking up. Missed out on the tour from 2 yrs ago as couldn't get tickets but finally bagged some this time around.

Not had confirmation yet but can't imagine it will be long

Agree with that. I think possibly genre helps as they are more on the punk side of things compared to the other 3, with generally more upbeat & stimulating songs, if quite not as legendary as the others.
Only seen Anthrax & Slayer out of the big four, that was maybe 3 years ago with slayer headlining and Anthrax supporting. I have to admit I prefer John Bush to Joey but it was quite amazing the difference between the two bands, one after another in the same dark venue. Both bloody good like.

The whole thing is rather depressing. Had Gwen Stefani in Vegas cancelled (ok, not heavy, but as a show looked brilliant), Rammstein, MCR with the hope of a support from Thursday cancelled.
Live music is really suffering and cant see local venues hosting smaller bands this side of November.

Probably not a fair sample size, as I've only seen Anthrax and Slayer once each, and both a long time ago (supporting Maiden in 1991 and 2000 respectively). As much as I love the classic Slayer songs, I can honestly say they bored the arse off me, as the whole thing just felt phoned in. No real rapport with the crowd, and no real atmosphere until they played the obvious stuff at the end. Might have been a bad night, as I know people who have seen them dozens of times and will defend them to the death, Anthrax just seemed to be having that much more fun.

Yep, RATM, parkway drive and black crows, all of which I expect to be cancelled.

Yes yes, I know their not heavy, just bands I've been looking forward to seeing.

I've only seen Anthrax once, Slayer once and Metallica a few times. Slayer was back in the 90s - I'd guess '94 - and I was really there for Machine Head (touring after Burn My Eyes). Machine Head blew the place apart and Slayer seemed pedestrian by comparison.

Saw Anthrax some time within the last 10 years as we actually went to see Motorhead who were supporting. It was a fvcking amazing night and they had the place bouncing. Unlike any time I've seen Metallica. I wouldn't hesitate to go see them again even though I'm not that familiar with their back catalogue.
