Well... Seeing as I'm a bit obsessed with quicksand and have been for 30 years since they released slip and changed EVERYTHING I thought it would be a good idea to catch them on their slip 30th anniversary tour.twice. I'm going to Copenhagen to catch them tomorrow night then straight back to the UK to catch them in Manchester next week!

Will have a nosey later! Big trivium fan here.

Jared filled in for some guitar work on a tour a while ago when Matt's kids were being born. Worth looking up those gigs if you're a fan as everyone stepped in for vocals etc, was pretty cool.

Anytime heading along to damnation? I go along every year as it's an excuse to meet up with friends I don't see often, but I have to say this years line up is pretty amazing for me.

Bossk, sigh, Tuskar, the infernal sea on the first night for me,

Amenra, anaal nathraak, sigh and Julia Christmas the 2nd night.

I bought a ticket but have sacked it off - the lineup just isn't there for me this year TBH. The repeat bands across the two days doesn't jive for me either, I'm afraid - different setlists or not it smacks of a cop out.

I also travel down from Aberdeen so the NoS being a four band, evening affair like it was at Leeds and the first Manchester year suits me better that a longer day due to travel time ETC.

Hopefully I'll be back next year but I won't be buying a ticket blind again.

Enjoy your weekend, smile

I agree that there aren't big hitters on the list, but for myself plenty smaller bands that don't come to Glasgow much. I've filled most of the days up with bands though so always someone I will go see. I do go just to meet friends from down South too,

The Friday night has resulted in us getting an extra hotel for the Thursday night, I'll wait and see how it is but it has added an extra expense. I didn't want to be tired from the drive especially as some of the bands I really want to see are the Friday.

The album sets are great when you are a fan of the band, but if you don't know them I find can be a bit of a slog. I'm thinking of when iron maiden played the whole of AMOLAD and I was incredibly bored. Interested to see Enslaved but possibly not 2 sets of worth.

I don't know what it is with both Damnation but particularly Bloodstock where they seem to rotate bands every 3 years or so with very few 'fresh" big artists or performances. Admittedly I'm out of touch these days.

One first view the line-up for Damnation is very good, but nothing/nobody I really want to see. Enslaved playing Vikingligr Veldi would probably be awesome, but again it's something I've seen before.

I liked that AMOLAD tour, biggrin

I live in Aberdeen so I get the thing about taking opportunities to see bands that don't come around often..... I'm usually down your neck of the woods to get my fix! Costly and often requires annual leave, but worth it - I think! irked

Next up, Green Lung!

Slipknot just fired their drummer again didn't see that coming, mind you I didn't see them firing Joey coming as well years ago. Be interesting to see who they get it to replace, I thought Jay has done a very good job in that role.

Shaun's son?
His dad is Max, drummer with Bruce Springsteen.

Any reasons given ?

I know that. I was suggesting Clowns son will replace Jay.

I'm a massive Joey fan but yeh Jay has grown so well in to that roll, think he just won several awards as well recently.

Shawn has become like the mafia boss with Slipknot, being the only original member now. I see all Slipknot social media apart from their website has now removed the news, very similar to them outing Craig Jones recently as well.

I didn't think about what was said above about Shawn's son, He calls himself #0 in one of his bands which is Sid's number but also refers to himself as Clown. But yeh I can imagine Shawn will bring Simon in.

On a separate note, cant remember if I posted it a while ago, the original Slipknot singer has been touring Australia performing the demo Slipknot album in full I hope he brings it to the UK. It's one of my favourite "albums" by them because its so raw.

For Jay, there's a million and one things it could be. The main thing that comes in to my head is given the time he's been involved now, either he's asked for or is contractually obliged to have an increase in money, put or the likes... Which is probably not in the best intentions of the power duo running the show...

Corey Taylor is a bellend, the cracks papered over by a million and one Kerrang/Metal Hammer etc articles of "what does our Lord and Saviour think or have to say on the news (sic, and I don't mean the song) of the moment?".
