There have been some great album covers over the years: what’s your favourite? It’s almost impossible to pick just one but I’ll start with this from the Small Faces

I've always liked these two:

Taste - their first album with Rory G on guitar

As you say Paul - impossible to pick .... but here's my starter for 10 smile

Followed closely by

Coming to a close with the Pistols 'Never mind' .... and finally, anything by Jim Fitzpatrick (and he's done many). He did a lot of Thin Lizzy covers.

A great photo, and a great cover. Fitting, as I bumped into Mick Jones in Notting Hill today smile

I love the simplicity of this!

Ride - Nowhere

..and always liked this, I think it's quite humorous! Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen

Also helps that these albums are in my all-time Top 10!

Brilliant and I've got it in my collection smile
But I'd nominate this masterpiece, artistically and musically

Two iconic album covers

One sums up the essence of the 'Canterbury' sound

The second 'proper' US hard rock

I cant stand album covers featuring photo's of some singer or band posing while looking moody, I prefer genuine artwork.

Most of Budgie's covers were quite original and well illustrated.

As were all Yes covers.

Nazerath

ELP - this one opens up to reveal another illustration inside which can be seen partially through the die-cut center.

One of my favourite's - Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow

Bolt thrower

FNM really nice bit of graphic art

More modern stuff;

Dom & Roland nice photography and photo manipulation.

Renegade Hardware label - good photo manipulation and strong graphic design

Please keep those stty C&W worst album covers off this thread. You can resurrect this http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a... if you like that sort of thing.

As I said it’s difficult to pick just one. I almost posted the Clash one myself but didn’t because of this:

And I resisted Pink Floyd because how can you have just one? But if I had to, I’d have this:

And another great cover:

Always loved the Floyd album art though.

Some good ones here, Screamadelica is one of my favourites, don't know why but it just makes me smile every time.

Like this:

also like this, especially when you open out the cover and see all the other faces
