don't know if anyone's offered this one yet but what a fabulous voice:

Angelique Kidjo singing 'Blewu' under the Arc de Triomphe with a rather prominent audience.

This is modern but I’m genuinely taken by it - their tour launches this week and I’m buying tickets for sure -

Whilst slightly tipsy I feel brave enough to post this, without going into a personal essay, this Piano piece and videography holds a special place, it was something that gave a slight escape to a clinically depressed mind, those who've been there know exactly what I mean. It was something that gave me slight chills and a brief moment of respite from the daily pain. I'm better now, so hopefully someone else can enjoy this beautiful thing.

It starts with what I know as The Mountain, played and written by Ludovico Einaudi and the piano piece is called Nuvole bianche.

This is The Mountain:

Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/22439234 (I prefer this one!)

Many years later, I discovered the actual song, sang in Sicilian and perfomed in London, you can look for the translations, it's basically a heart break song of someone leaving a loved one.

I'm going to put this here too, Dolores O'Riodan, live, Go Your Own Way, amazing voice, another tragic loss.

Just discovered this band and can't get enough of this particular track. A melancholic instrumental that has got under my skin and manages to make me feel jubilant and saddened at the same time.

Disclaimer, my Mrs who lives and breathes music claims she can't hear anything special in this one which I just can't fathom.

I know that the vast majority of the collective will probably not like this but The Coffin Ships by Primordial is one that gets me every time. The lyrics are especially poignant and haunting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5onHLICxgc

The acapella "Behind the wall" is pretty haunting from the first album

Reminds me of this:-

I was on a lunch break in (I think 2007), and ClassicFM played it.

Goosebumps.

And whilst we’re here...

This brings tears to my eyes.
The lyrics are beautiful especially if you notice that the gun is put down on the side in the first few lines.
I have listened to it many times over the past few days and without being dramatic it has made me realise how wonderful my wife is and how life gets in the way of love.
On the back of this I have played the whole unplugged several times and two things strike me....
What a fabulous and unique voice Morten has and how incredible it is that a Norwegian can write so beautifully in a foreign language.
Fabulous and thanks for the share.
Agreed. Utterly brilliant song from a much under-rated band.

That song always reminds me of the short lived
YouTube of fatal f1 accidents....

It is incredibly haunting in that perspective for me.
