RIP Gary. You have had a huge effect on my life. It was through you, that I found the love of guitar, and I will never lose that. I am so priveleged to have seen you live numerous times (maybe 10) and you have always stunned me with your talent and frankly beautiful playing.

Have a great jam with Phil.

Love
Peter

Just saw this while browsing BBC news website. Totally gutted. Gary Moore was my joint favourite/influential guitarist along with SRV - another taken too soon.

RIP.

Still got the blues...

Sad news indeed.
I had the real pleasure of seeing him twice at Newcastle City Hall. An absolute top guitarist.
"Empty Rooms" is one of my favourites - a rather a poignant title.
RIP Gary.

Gutted.

If theres any one guitarist I tried to copy it was Gary Moore.

The start of this still sends chills up my spine:

I remember when I first heard that. I had to turn it off and sit in silence for a few moments. It blew my head off.

I was just learning guitar and my world was turned upside down.

RIP Gary.

Too true!

Just watching some stuff now on YouTube, brilliant stuff!
Reminding me that he has a similar left hand style to Michael Schenker in that he doesn't use his little finger much and has an enourmous 1st to 2nd finger reach which spans 3 or 4 frets.

Spectacular!

I don't think I've ever joined in with the "RIPs" because I always find it a bit mawkish.

But in this instance I've got to say what a sad, sad loss.

Not that I know of; nor heard anything. He was a pretty healty, fit, clean living guy.

With all respect to Gary, I thought he had difficulty with alcohol?

Nothings been said really.
He seemed to have had a normal day by all accounts, and has died during the night.

How though???

cryI am truly shocked. I went to see Gary Moore perform at the Ulster Hall on December 17, 1984. It was the first gig I went to. It was the inspiration to photograph rock concerts which has led to my strong interest in photography to this day. That particular gig was the subject of the concert video "Emerald Aisles Live." I was there on the night for an unforgettable gig.

RIP Gary.

Out in the fields, Victims of the future, Empty rooms, Parisienne walkways, Friday on my mind, all so different, all so great and all performed with such talent and feeling.

Thank you for your time and music.

Probably the finest combination of traditional Blues sensibility and new-gun guitar attack we might ever see.

RIP Gary. You'll be missed.

Gutted.

First gig I ever went to was to see Mr Moore at Sheperds Bush Empire.

There seemed to be no end to what he could do with a guitar. Stunning work.

The live version of The Loner sticks with me as one of the finest pieces. 14 minutes of utterly fantastic and heart-breaking guitar.

Yes, agree! Saw him play this live a number of times and it was always different. You never knew where he would go in the last section! But it was always amazing.
