You've managed to get my brother-in-law in the background of the photo of the Ferrari on the Britcar stand laugh

Going to against the grain it seems, I went today and really enjoyed it!
Loads of cars, lots of nice people to talk to and the live show was ace!
Maybe I'm easily pleased but it an enjoyable day. The go karting was great too, nice and slidey!
Seemingly me too, it was the best car show that I've ever been to (Haven't been to Goodwood yet to be fair hehe)

Sincars were phenomenal too, did anybody else see these? I asked a few questions and it appears that they are a Bulgarian Supercar manufacturer, they have a car in development I believe that uses a LS3 engine, 1198kg and looks fantastic. All for £60k+Vat, I wouldn't have bat an eyelid if he said that it was double the price.

I haven't been before but went yesterday afternoon and enjoyed it. Lots of interesting cars and hardware there, I presumed that it was a big show and that I only saw part of it in the short time I was there - perhaps I had seen most without realising it!

It seemed very busy though, so clearly no shortage of people prepared to pay the ticket price, and I much prefer this kind of show to the old motor show that used to be at the NEC.

There are cheaper food options available outside the halls - there are a couple of Wetherspoons and Subways dotted around, but I can see how it can quickly turn in to a very expensive day.

Shame none of the PH crew where there, saw the pie & piston and the cars - thought it was a good idea TBH. Probably would have bought a t-shirt if there had been some PH goodies there

I went yesterday with my 9 and 10 year old boys...

We arrived at carpark E2 at 11am.
No shuttle buses were running.
We walked to the NEC, but due to a complete lack of wayfinding signage, ended up having to climb over fencing.
On arrival, we joined the end of a very lengthy queue at the ticket office.
The ticket office had run out of tickets.
We waited for more tickets to arrive.
30 minutes pass.
New tickets eventually arrive, but no standard tickets are available; just paddock passes at £10 extra each.

We hadn't even stepped into the show and, so far, it had cost me £124!!

The show itself was excellent.
The Live Action Arena much better than previous years.

Even so, it represented poor value for money.

That was our last visit to Autosport International.

Went to this yesterday and enjoyed myself thoroughly. I thought the live action show was good, the stands were varied, and there was plenty of unusual metal on show. It's the first time I've been so I can't compare other years. I arrived at about 10 and didn't leave until after 4pm. Bought tickets online so no waiting in line. I have been to other shows and agree it is not the cheapest, but I disagree with others who think it is overpriced for what it is.

I saw the Sin Cars. A few days ago I'd been watching YouTube clips of the company owner, and he was there on the stand. He was otherwise engaged, so I didn't try to engage him in conversation.
They seem to have started as a race car, then followed up with the road car. I like that approach. It certainly looks like a high end supercar from the outside. I think that perhaps it lacks the sophistication to justify £100k.

Bad timing on my part if that was the case smash I'll take a rain check!

With all the craziness of the show it seemed to be a good idea to me to have a sanctuary to relax.

I'm sorry but are you expecting sympathy for arriving comparatively late for a 'day out' with no forward planning whatsoever? Here's an idea; buy the tickets in advance, don't be lazy and get up earlier and use google maps to avoid having to climb over a fence.

I agree though, the show was great!

What a friendly reply! Typifies the direction many on this forum are heading in.
I think his point was made well. Should such a queue happen at something which bigs itself up so much? Should they run out of tickets? Should it cost so much for so few? Should fellow phers just assume he was looking for sympathy?

Aw, don't be sorry. Thanks for the concern though.

Sympathy you think? What a strange assumption.

It was always going to be a 'half-day out'.

Our visit had been planned for months.

I wasn't sure until the last minute of numbers.

I followed the other hundreds of visitors across the grass and over the fence.

Other than that, thanks ever so much for the well thought through, constructive advice.

Well done you...

Sorry to hear your story Miner49er,

Im with you on this one, this is the International Autosport Show at our National Exhibition Centre, I saw the queue of People waiting to get in and considering the amount of entrances its a shame they could not of anticipated more tickets for the customers frown

£124.00! Sorry but that's bloody outrageous for you and a couple of kids. nono

I can't comment on the Live action stuff as it does not interest me personally and I made no attempt to see it this year.

The staggering thing I find here is the amount of peopl;e who did not even go to the arena, yet paid for it.

Because they had no choice!

Genius or daylight robbery? You decide, I did about 5 years ago!

It's great to hear the mostly positive comments - thanks!

For us it was a great show, visitor numbers were up and most exhibitors were very happy. There are things we need to develop sure but thanks for your all the positive comments. As you can imagine when a whole year of your work goes into this one event it's very nice to hear!

I do wish there was a Motorsport Autojumble at this show, there never really seems to be parts available to take away there and then. I know Demon Tweaks does business, theres an independent guy from Mac Tools, but its a shame there are not many more tool suppliers at these shows, Sealey comes to mind as does Snap on etc. I always seem to go looking for stuff and come away pretty much empty handed. EBC Brake pads have a stand there but only explain about their products, I know they have a large range of pads but It would be good if you could order at discount prices.
Things like brake bleeding kits available? I know some stands were selling stuff, but would be great to have more of the Engineering hall converted into an Auto jumble.

Prices would have to come down though for exhibitors to make this viable?

Just some thoughts smile

James,

What is your reaction to the issue of no shuttle buses running, no tickets available, and a cost of £124 for this "family-friendly" event?

We were exhibiting and frankly I'm shocked at the post above. Surely it's in everyone's interest to make the event accessible and affordable?

The no shuttle busses running is an odd one, that is a NEC run service, nothing to do with us. The £124 I can only assume is three people coming on on Paddock Passes, parking etc. It's certainly not £124 for one person to attend.

Lack of available tickets - I don't know why this happened. But I will find out and post the results on here.

Thanks,

James

It is actually something we have considered and may be something for future years. The problem with Hall 9 (Engineering) is that we only have a matter of hours to remove engineering and build up the Festival Zone. That's why most of the content is 'pop up exhibitor' such as cars on carpet and roller banners. Getting an auto jumble set up would take more time than we have available in Hall 9.

We have our post show debrief this week so I will bring it up - thanks for the insight.
