That is awful.

I was looking at a 2017-18 Grand Cherokee, but the boot is just too small. I need the space to put my mother's electric buggy in, also 2 large suitcases on occasion. I looked at a RR Sport, but the insurance is ludicrous. At the weekend I bought a Merc GLE 250d. The older 2.1 TD with adblue. On the way home (200 miles) I managed 43.4mpg according to the computer, most Merc ones are very accurate, so no complaints here. Not a sporty drive at all, just 201bhp for the 2150kg. Very comfortable and a good cruiser. On shorter runs it seems to do about 38mpg.

Very sorry to hear. After the insurance saga, will you get another?
without a doubt, busy getting evidence of value from autotrader etc, expect a battle on the payout.

Visual on damage is rear suspension both sides and the rear diff is cracked, front NS wheel leaning and the front diff leaking, front bumper and crashbar bent, OS doors both mangled, OS cill bent, OSR quarter pushed in including the inner arch panel, roof creased in line with rear doors, rear bumper toast and the OS exhaust bent. All doors open fine, no lights or glass broken, runs fine and no lights on dash ! (well until they move it then the ABS/TC etc will have a brain fart) Stood up well to being cannoned about by a +2t pickup doing about 50 leptons in 20 zone! Car in front of me was a Hyundai i10 or i20, that is toast too, rear gate and boot floor bent, the 2 in front of that only have light damage.

That is significant damage. Gutting. I hope the drunk driver is dealt with properly.

I suspect he will get away without a ban, he did a runner and hid somewhere at mates for a day or so, so avoided a breath check, unsure if leaving the scene gets you a ban, however a couple of us collared him briefly before he legged it and he was steaming. He managed to avoid the police dogs & drone, most annoying.

Busy haggling with the insurance company right now, as expected low balling me, but mine has full history & clean MOT history too. Hope to get it sorted soon as I have found another I like the look of, none for sale at the minute seem to have clean MOT history or all the service receipts to back up the book like mine :/

well going through the haggling still on the Jeep, have an interim payment from the insurance company, just fighting on a couple of things that should be another £1k on the payout.

Still trying to find a 2015+ GC with decent history that isn't white or silver for £17k max, not much out there right now.

I have however scored some new wheels LOL Were sat in my watch list for an age and the seller sent an offer I couldn't refuse so I have a set of 5 JL 80th anniversary wheels waiting to go on my GC when I get it

Well I know I said I didn't want a white one but I have stuck a deposit down on a white Overland. Found some dechroming kits and think I am goint to get the bonnet & roof vinyled like a trailhawk to lose the dazzle. Pictures later.....

Mine was white and tbh I think the colour really suited it

I will like it much more once the chrome on the grill / lights is gone & I have my new wheels on it

I had the earlier model in the USA.....the Laredo. 4 litre str8 6. Over my ownership virtually everything broke bit by bit. The only thing that actually lasted was the engine and gearbox. It was bought by a young kid for $800 who wanted to go mud bogging.
