What's the most northern place you can drive in scotland?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the 4x4 forum so sorry if this is out of sorts, but I'm after a bit of advice for a pitch I'm putting together.

I want to make a video about the new Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventure, probably using a defender. I'd like the video to have a pull, rather than just "offroading with a new tyre", so I was wondering if there was a particularly epic green lane or road in the north of our good country that I could drive to from London, highlighting the dual road / offroad nature of the tyre.

Europe is also an option, but I'm not sure on my desire to do a multiple day trip in a defender (I realise I'll get shot down for that). At least Inverness is "only" 9 hours.

You can drive right up until you fall off the top pretty much, John O'Groats is the official 'top' of Scotland but the furthest top of Scotland is Dunnett head IMO. Not much a challenge for an off roader though, you just drive up the B855.

What IS a challenge in that part of the world? Something that's legal, and doable by a defender with 50/50 tyres, but not a breeze.

But there are a lot of Single Track roads in the north of Scotland

You need to recconoitoring before you decide

Try crossing to the Orkney islands, even crossing to Hoy

There is plenty opportunity for off road adventures up there, i could have the perfect setting for you that i'm happy to PM you if you want.

The only reason for the secrecy is my family have a house on the land that it starts. It includes river crossing, beach and loads of challenging green stuff, beautiful scenery as well.

there's a landie track up Mount Keen, near Brechin. not quite to the summit, but close.

Ferry to Shetland - Lerwick.
Drive to next ferry, cross to Yell, to next ferry, cross to Unst, drive north, then right up to hermaness point - next stop Muckle Flugga!

The laws regarding "Rights of Way" are different in Scotland and there are no "Green Lanes". You can drive off road, but you need the land owner permission. But as people have pointed out, you can drive all the way to the edge on tarmac roads.

There are some tracks up Dunnet Head that were made by the MOD during WW2 and also some buildings left over from then near the lighthouse at Dunnet Head. Been 10 years since I took my hours old RRS up there. Picked up the RRS in Inverness and drove all the way up to Dunnet head, the car is about 4 hours old since picking it up.

I believe that my uncle was stationed there during WW2 when it was a radar station
