Pretty much looking to swap my Focus for a Disco 2, for the purposes of now having inherited 2 Dogs and an interest for camping from my partner.

Having a look round my local area, there is one for sale at a Trader, Priced £1699

The car is a Manual '02' Plate with 142,999 Miles, has "Loads of paperwork and service history" but is not declared as full, from pictures looks in reasonable condition, ive checked the MOT and it expires august 2018 and had the following advisories;
Advisory notice item(s)
Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)
Central Rear Torque/reaction arm has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)
Front Oil leak from oil filter ()
Offside Power steering component(s) has slight seepage from a component steering box (2.3.3b)
engine covers and under trays fitted

I'm hoping to part ex in a straight swap, I have a 58 plate focus zetec s diesel in quite good condition for 154k

I've not yet viewed the car, I don't have a vast amount of experience looking for potential problems and such, i'd like the car but the price seems too good to be true, given that others are being sold for similar mileage for around £2000-£2200

Does this seem to cheap? or have I found a bargain?

It's a 16yo, 140k barge with a terrible rep for body rot. £1,700 does not seem scarily cheap at all.

Give it a damn good check over.

Just don't expect the dealer to provide any after-sales support at all, despite his legal requirements.

I once bought a cheap old Disco with a couple of months' MOT left that I thought looked ok for the price in pictures.

Haha.

Hahahahaha....

Go and give that gift horse a long hard look in the mouth. It might be not bad, it might be awful.

If it looks ok, maybe get it stuck through a fresh MOT before committing to it.

Take a big screwdriver with you, crawl underneath and stab everything under the cills and back end.

Silver one?

It is just round the corner from me that place.
