What kinda discount were you able to negotiate?
None at all; the cars are completely sold out until next year. I would imagine they’ll be going for overs once they start arriving as supply is so limited.
Just like the Jimny...

I wonder what is the Raptor Decal pack for £900.

Without this are there no Raptor signs on the side and rear?

No, the Raptor script on the side is what's standard. The decals are these:

No, the order wasn’t specced with them, but I wouldn’t have chosen them anyway, so it worked out okay in the end. hehe Do think they look okay, just prefer the look without.

Does anyone know the weight of the Raptor?

If over 2040kg it might have the same speed restrictions as vans (and the Wildtrak).

Thanks

It's heavy. I believe it's getting on for 200kgs heavier than a Wildtrak. eek

Raptor will be classed as an N1 Commercial Vehicle

The worst of both worlds then - lower speed limits combined with higher company car tax. hehe Not that I'll pay any attention to the N1 speed limits; I don't see how a Ranger is any different to a Discovery or any other large SUV.

I think a secondhand F150 Raptor would be far better value and not have a wheezy 2 liter diesel, , the F150 gets 6.2 V8 or a 3.5 twin turbo 450 hp with 510 lb-ft in the latest ones .. oh and hennessey are doing a upgrade 4.2 seconds0-60 and 1/4mile in 13..

Quick update on these; had a call earlier today from one of the dealers I spoke with, saying that orders were open again and things have been bumped up a bit, so looking at production in July and delivery a couple of months after that. Was originally going to be December after the first batch.

Mine is still due to be built next week. woohoo

Hi everybody, just found this thread so I’m a little late to the party.
As others have said, I signed up for updates ages ago but so far nothing.

As an existing (company) owner of an 18 plate Wildtrak the thing I’m looking for is more comfort and a little less wobble over rough surfaces which the new Raptor should answer with the stronger chassis and Fox suspension.
The existing 3.2 can sound a little strained when pushed so the lack of additional power isn’t an issue but more refinement is, hopefully the new 2.0 should answer this.
With upcoming changes in 2022/24 bringing in enforced speed limiters we will all be chugging around at 20mph for the majority of the time anyway.

Regarding price, I’ve been stopped at the petrol station quite a few times and asked about the Wildtrak and on a couple of occasions people have said they were looking at getting one and fitting a ‘Raptor kit’ to it. This sums up a lot of people’s lack of understanding of the Raptor model and claims of it not being worth the extra over a Wildtrak.
It’s far more than a few badges and a body kit. Chassis changes and the totally different suspension are worth the £10k premium alone never mind the trim.

Size and particularly width have been mentioned in this thread. The standard Ranger is quite long but perfectly manageable and the Raptor will be no different. Width-wise, quite a few owners have a wide arch kit (up to 2” a side arch extensions) added to their vehicles without too much issue so yes it may be tight in some car parks and as currently I wouldn’t even attempt a multi-storey, it shouldn’t be a big issue.

Tax treatment sucks so I’d probably purchase personally and charge back to the company on a Pence per mile basis.
Probably the biggest issue is the lack of availability and the poor dealers.
I ended up giving up on Ford dealers when I bought the Wildtrak and went to an internet independent as both the Bristol and Bath Ford dealers wouldn’t even return a phone call.
After sales service levels for Ford Commercial have been even more laughable although I’ve heard the car side is far better, hopefully the Raptor might be looked after as a car not commercial.

^also contacted two Ford dealers and neither called back.

Which internet company did you use for your Wildtrak?

Thanks

I used White Hot Vans.
Very helpful and returned phone calls (Ford take note).

G'Day!

We've had the Raptor down-under for a few months now and as a fellow '18 Wildtrack owner, I've taken a keen interest in it, including a test drive on road, dirt tracks and off-road.

The chassis is identical to the rest of the range with the exception of additions at the rear to allow for the coil spring seats. The suspension arms are different (wider) but their attachment to the chassis itself identical to the vehicle you already have.

The wobble over rough surfaces that you describe is very common with an empty ute (pickup) and the rear-end coils in the Raptor to greatly eliminate it (same as new Navara and the Mercedes version)

The interior of the Raptor is nice but not much different to Wildtrack. Big negative for me is the lack of adaptive cruise which I use daily.

Under-body protection on the Raptor is questionable - The aftermarket ARB kit is much better.

The Fox suspension on the Raptor is OK too - But the BP51 aftermarket kit is better.

The Raptor will actually be a little slower than a Wildtrack with the same engine due to the massive tyres on the Raptor. Go from one to the other and you will notice the slight slugishness of the Raptor.

Here's a quick snap of a couple the local dealer has - They seem to have good stock which indicates it's not selling too well despite the Wildtrack having a 3 month waiting list.

Facelift Ranger brochure available for download now too. Whole range looks good and the Raptor gets some stuff that the initial lot of Australian ones didn’t, such as autonomous emergency braking.

One little nugget of information in it is a bit annoying though: trucks built before November 25th have Bi-Xenon headlamps, whereas after that date they get LED headlamps. Always thought it was weird to launch a facelifted car in 2019 with Xenon headlamps, but even weirder that they are to be replaced after a few months! Kind of annoying that a vehicle I’ve yet to receive already has a publicised date that it’ll be out of date. eek

Having read all the reviews, basically all of them say the Raptor is amazing, but the engine is average at best. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford put the 240PS EcoBlue motor into it (why not from the start!?) as presumably that’d be fairly straightforward, but I still don’t think we’ll see a petrol one until the next generation of Ranger is launched here. Maybe I’ll be able to swap my early Raptor for one with more power and LED headlamps in a couple of years. hehe

Thanks for the link and pointing out the headlight change. I plan to order this autumn and might leave it a bit longer now to get the LED ones. Bet you can't wait.

No worries. Info has been hard to come by up until now, so spread any when I find it. hehe

My wife has a new Focus with the adaptive LED headlamps and they're amazing, so if you do wait it'll probably be worth it. As I say, I'll take my early example and see what happens in the next couple of years before an all-new Ranger is launched with regards to incremental updates to the Raptor. I guess whether or not they do a next-gen Raptor model at all will depend on how well the current one sells, so getting a late example of one might not be a bad idea. biggrin
