Currently have an Audi A6 Allroad - 4 years totally reliable, great car but tend to change my cars when they reach 75,000 miles. I fancy going back to a larger 4x4. I live in the country, do need to go off road (field) accassionaly, along with odd trailer and long trips to the Alps 4 times a year. The new car like 4x4,s like Bmw X3 or Audi Q5 are just not going to cut it and i will notgo back to Land Rover due to tgeirreliabity and running costs.

What is peoples view of the Jeep? How reliable really.

I ran a Mitsubishi pick up as well as Audi for a while and just did not get on with it.

I guess you mean the WK2 Grand Cherokee ?

Cant comment too much, I ran the older WJ for 8 years. But Im considering one myself the 3.0 diesel. They have their little problems like most but Ive not heard of any common horror stories. The dealer network gets bad press, and theres not too many indies about. Only the dealers seem to have the software to do complicated fixes.
Goggle is your friend here, but rememeber you will only read of problems, not the happy owners.

For me its the added complication of the air ride on the Overland, that will be expensive when it starts to go wrong. So maybe the Limited on normal suspension is a better long term ownership bet.

Every bit as good as the discovery, quadradrive (1 or 2) is a must. Good engines, I love my v8.

I’ve got a 16 plate 3.0 diesel summit bought from new 33,000 miles no issues.
I don’t like the turbo lag of the line or when moving slowly and the hand brake pedal is a pain other than it’s a cheap 4x4
