Its a lovely looking bit of kit, ten grands worth...??? imo - No.

The wheelbase is 90" so the chassis has been cut and shut 10" from the mid section. This is no real issue. Its probably the case that they had a 100" chassis and it was cheaper and easier to cut'n'shut than buy a Defender.

However, 'wider track' < errmmm, thats tosh. The chassis, and axles are all the same across the range. It's simply not true that any particular model could have a 'wider track'.

As for 'playing in the mud' Now a 5.7 will sounds absolutely fantastic but it takes a massive amount of work to make the ignition system truly safe for water. The purchaser needs to think hard about just how 'serious' he intends to play. Many have a lot of fun without getting silly. However if tere is a chance that he'll wade into unknown depths for the sheer hell of it then he needs to think carefully about this particular engine. Especially as its using a pancake filter and carb, the seal between which is incredibly hard to seal properly.

Fantastic tool though. Although you could build it yourself for half the cost. But how many have the time and patience for that?

ETA

there is a massive difference between an 'off road acer' and an offroader.

There has been been no mods to the chassis beyond raising it 3" but it doesn't say how. There is no mention of any preparation to increase articulation?

Also, for £10k Id want diff lockers fitted, this doesn't have it.

In fact, given some of the truly capable vehicles I have seen for sale (and built!) Id have to say that you could buy a more capable offroader for £4-5k and then spend £2k getting the body work refreshed......

No doubt the purchaser will be overjoyed. And, as I say its a lovely machine. But 'fit for purpose' depends on what you are gonna use it for.

Are you sure it cut from the middle as that rear end looks very short to me, so might be a bob tail with i believe doesnt need sva, very unusaul to find an offroader thats had one!!

yes that engine is very fast but the handling is crap as the engine is SOO HEAVY compared to standard.

if you want something that is very good off road look at these

Forgetting any technical aspects which may not make it as good an Off Roader as a similarly priced vehicle, I would be grinning like a buffoon every time I put my foot down in that V8 Monster, touche !

Agreed, you can't beat a V8!I have a 1979 CJ7 with the AMC 360 in,and it sounds gorgeous.Great fun to drive, very capable offroad(lockers,OBA,35s,uprated shafts, discs allround,TH400box,EFi,etc etc).I have another 4x4 but should have old the Jeep long ago, but the smile it brings keeps making me reluctant to advertise!

Its a 90" wheelbase. Anoraks like me can tell from the body panels !
Its a dogs dinner is what it is! Logbook shows it as a Range Rover 3.9, never been MOT'd since the build 6 years ago and wouldn't surprise me if it was a 'postal' one on it now. No build pictures, no receipts hence why I walked away ( and am classed as a time waster by the Vendor smile )

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 I6. I live at the end of a ridiculously long dirt road and it's always full of tools.

umm hate to be even more anoraky, but you can fit a 90 body on a 100" chassis wihtout changing the panels. Usually the front axle looks like its been pushed forward- as it does in that picture. Lets not forget that a 90 wheelbase is 93" anyway, and a RRC is 99.5"- you only need a few inches of movement in the wheel wells of a 90.

Can send a couple of piccies over of a mates 100" with a 90 body (on a Q of course biggrin ) if necessary.
