Took the new aquisition out today at Broxhead AWDC Day for some tame 4x4 fun, have'nt been out 4x4'ing for fun for many years & thoroughly enjoyed it. Managed to get get it well & truly stuck a few times hehe but then we were trying considering its on road tyres!

Was anybody else out today if so in what? Will certainly be up for a few tame 4x4 days, though I might have to get some knoblies!!! I wonder if Mr Maxxis can assist :scrathchin:

Did quite a bit of towing out & generally had a great time in the relaxed all for fun atmosphere. Very impressed with a standard HJ80 cruisers ability too, having owned Landies, Niva's & lots of other Jap 4x4 stuff over the years.

Might have to fix the rear diff lock as its fallen over it appears, along with doing something about the stupid towbar that got us wedged more than once hehe

I'm lusting after a good TD HJ80 - what sort of money are they fetching - autotrader prices seem a little optimistic to me .....

Mine was a bargain! but it seems like a good one, 145k with a full S/H everything mechanical works except the rear locker & its even managed 32mpg on a long run! Its somewhat cosmetically challenged but I'm not fussed about that. Some new tyres & some tinkering will see it 100%. Will probably convert it to overland spec over the next year or so for some future trips.

They were making about 3k for rougher ones but your right you can't find any for that money now & even ok ones make 4-5k. But what else can you buy that will do the same job so well? You can stick 2 tons behind it & not know its there!
