That was for sale about 18mths ago. I spoke to the owner but didn't view as I bought something else instead. Owner is a US helicopter mechanic and sounded knowledgable, built it himself. That car will be a hard sell for summer so reckon there could be a lot of wiggle room on price and be a good car for someone.

Anyone actually in the market for a new motor These days?

I am in the market for an lr3. Can't think of any alternatives at that price point.

that's good to hear. i have been reading up on them and the horror stories seem overplayed.

this is the one i am interested in. if the belts and bushes have been attended to recently [which is should at that miles with FSH] then its all gravy. its for daily duties [i miss having road presence in traffic] towing and a lot of camping. intend to do a lot more of that this winter.

ps - new raptor looks good. i hope ford progress the bronco concept with that engine as that would be very hard to ignore

pps - lake como is a great setting for a wedding mike. mabrook!

A Mercedes 1000
saw this at the weekend, was trying to work out who made it. might be one of the original ones given the locale [legend is a middle eastern businessman wanted a car twice as good as a 500sel]. deffo not a gembella as iirc they called theirs 1001 to go one better.

/plutocrat car beard

like the concept, don't like the car. if it as one of the gullwing sec's with the overhead radio that would be a different story entirely.

You have mail, BTW.
cool, will check in a bit.

and yes, by road presence i mean a massive lump of thundering steel, not something that just looks shady in your rear view mirror. a rental yaris doesn't even make a pathan labourer on a bicycle get out of my way, let alone cut it down SZR

The v8 ecoboost with find a way in there ford finite and I'd be surprise if that wasn't a design consideration from day 1. both the body and engine are produced in huge volumes so the numbers work and the modular assembly process means it's not even difficult. I wouldn't be surprised if a full on yee-haaa dandy edition with the flat plane v8 comes along, either oem or semi official tuner

How about the 2-11 above and 100k on a barge? Or have you gone soft in your old age?

Yup. Part from a couple of 400s all the lotus stock are old models and overpriced.

Good to have you back in the right sand pit

I meant the 400s aren't old stock, prices on them are very silly if you're using post brexit sterling.

They're not selling afaik which is kinda the point. I'm not even sure al futtain even maintain a lotus parts desk anymore, I rang last week to be told it's closed (used to be in the Volvo showroom opposite) then got fobbed off with a mobile no that no one ever answers.

Poor? yes, unexpected? Give over it's Dubai. Just concerns me what their strategy is as, from the enthusiasts POV at least, it seems paper thin.

Ps there's a manual r8 on dubizzle for 180k. If you pretend it's still 5.7 dhs to the pound that's a decent buy

looks like its been ramraided through halfords with that spec list but easily resolved. give it a proper test drive. i know from experience that lifted cars handle like a wet turd if not 110% maintained.

i am with you on the SUV but having done the brash loud and lifted thing i'm going luxo this time. drove the supercharged full fat rangerover and now having major difficulty in seeing past them as a daily proposition. just seems my budget needs to increase a little to secure a good one.

New model ones are pricey yes but a combination of the export ban on cars older than 5yrs and the 8 yr limit on fully comp insurance means the l322 is somewhat cheaper. My budget was 40k for an lr3 and if I go for the Range I reckon I need 60 for an 09/10 model year in decent condition. At that I can get either a late 4.2 supercharged or 5.0 n/a. Only a 20bhp drop on the latter but with more toys and less drivetrain stress.

Problem is whilst lr3s seems to be the well heeled expat mums school run car of choice the range is the middle eastern mondeo, so plenty of lemons around.

What he said. Change in import rules for previous major export markets. It's had a sizeable effect on the older end of the used market
