Hugh - how did you find driving on sand with your old R19 wheels? A concern has just hit me that with 255/50 r19 I have bugger all sidewall to allow me to air down and get out of trouble. I realise at some point I will have to find some R18s but that ain't gonna happen in the next few days!
Not good, the Cayenne was on 21" 40 or 45 profile tyres.....it was terrible. You might be OK on 19s with a 55 profile, worth trying I guess. Cheapy road tyres on 18" wheels (265/60R18) were brilliant. Not sure the new BFGs will be as good on sand, but should be more puncture resistant. On the note of trips, I cant make this weekend ( :-( ) but be keen to see if we can go out 19th or 20th if people are free. Aim would be early am start finish about 9- 9:30am off sand to avoid heat. I think doing Fossil rock might be a good idea. Phil, are you going to grab a track of where you go? That would help us?
I currently use View Ranger, as it seems good on IOS and Android, easy to import GPX, and you can record a trail. Would be handy.
Guys,
I said I would post up the bare necessities that I took from almost4x4 club.

You can spot the idiot asking the idiot questions!
Is a difficult site to navigate, but there is some good information on here. Take a look around. If anyone wants to moon the club, let me know as is easier if someone recommends!
Thanks
