You need to be aware that new clean air regulations were launched on 1st July, very much like the regs relating to driving in Central London.  As I understand it at the moment they only apply to Central Paris, Lyon and Lille but apparently they will be rolling out across France in due course.  You will need a sticky vignette for the windscreen in the colour appropriate to the NCAP emission regs in force when your vehicle was originally registered, the cost is €4.18 and it can be bought and paid for online at   https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/  where you will find all the details in English.  Some older cars are exempt from this scheme but are also banned from entering the regulated zones, also be aware that there are some scam sites nothing to do with the official Gov.Fr offering vignettes for hugely inflated prices.  Last point is that apparently there will be significant fines for those failing to display even if they are not in a regulated area!
