SOMEONE on here works for Volvo...dont they?
Discussion
Yes its me, sorry didn't see the post but with the adverts we have had out ive literally had zero time to get on here with the levels of enquiries we have been getting.
The deals involving hand back at the end will always be mileage restricted, we need to sell the cars when they come back so cant have some cars coming back with 30k on and others with 150k on, it needs to be controlled, plus the banks wont underwite it if they think the cars are going to be worth nothing at the end!
The S90 deal in all honesty was just too good, we didn't anticipate the company would sign off on it and advertise it and unsurprisingly they did sell out quickly. Unfortunately future shipments in Jan onwards we cant offer the same or anywhere near the same deal due to VAT ruling out us doing the down payment contributions.
Next best deal is as mentioned the V40 T5, 1599 AED a month with nothing in with HSBC. Or if you don't want the buy back deal its 119,999 AED but we pay the 20% down payment providing its financed (could finance 35k if wanted to cheat the system a bit) so you effectively get the car for 96k, which for a model year 18 245hp hatchback that's exactly the same as European specs is great value!

Not sure.....think it was a 2 litre, which i immediately turn my nose up at.
IIRC , the Jag XF SV8 hit 100 in 5 seconds, the 750il the same.....this Volvo is about a week.
Get used to the engine down sizing its coming to all car showrooms near you very soon.IIRC , the Jag XF SV8 hit 100 in 5 seconds, the 750il the same.....this Volvo is about a week.
And high 6 seconds for a 2 ton Volvo sedan auto with a 2 litre engine isn't bad im afraid.
As always depends what your used to!
Thanks to this thread, there’s now one less V40 in Volvo’s stocks. Ran the mileage numbers again on my side, and whilst it’s likely I’ll still go over the 25k a year, the excess mileage charges won’t be massively ruinous. The alternative options I was finding on leases were less than inspiring - a 2015 RAV4 was mooted by Hertz - so I’ve taken the plunge on a blue V40.
Thanks to all the efforts James and David at the showroom, there's now a Bursting Blue V40 sharing space with the hire Corolla on the drive.
Initial impressions are very good - certainly not lacking in pace, comfy on the cruise to Abu Dhabi and there's plenty of kit, especially considering the price.
Cheers to Chilli for starting up this thread in the first place, as otherwise I'd have probably ended up with a Ford Ecosport on lease from Thrifty!

XC90 Inscription heading this way..thanks Aftershock...
Wife not over the moon with having it instead of a V8 Cayenne but in this tough resale market it's a rational choice. Now come to the realization that European cars are only good for 4 years or so our here due to climate and a lack of buyers for used cars...the locals have it right with the Patrol and land Cruiser..but I can't bring myself to go down that route. At least the Volvo provides 2 years of stress free driving...and then it goes back with no worries ovet resale.

All the best with the XC90.
Currently trying to shift on the Charger SRT8 and get into a cheaper lease motor. Proving difficult to sell at the moment! Aftershock, can you work your magic here? Need to clear finance on SRT8 which is close to the market value of the car. Looking at options, but not many places will give you a good deal on part ex or similar.

The XC90 arrived and I have to say it exceeds my expectation. Its very powerful and beautifully finished and without a single rattle or squeak. It also rides beautifully. The ipod like control panel is absolutely superb too.
Its the Inscription plus and has so many toys its not funny...this includes air suspension which I am happy with so long as I don't own the car in 3 years time.
The only negative (and its very minor!) is the slight 4 cyl noise at pull away. Once away its probably one of the quietest cars I have owned. I guess that as all Volvos become hybrid and pull away on electric power then this will be less of an issue. However, I can't fail to think that if Volvo had done a small straight six with turbo and supercharger then they would have had a world beating car on their hands.

Test drove the XC90 the last week of December and was very, very impressed.
Unfortunately when we came to complete the guaranteed buy back after 2 years had been removed and I don't want to take the gamble on depreciation in the current market.
Will be keeping my eyes on it to see if any similar deals may come about - enjoy the cars to those that picked them up!

Still cant help but feel that Volvo would have had the very best SUV in the world if they would up the ante on the engine refinement a little. Wheels magazine suggest that the non supercharged version is actually a better engine from that perspective.
The rest of the car is superb and such a soothing place to be. Its so light and effortless to drive and geared to comfort over sportiness.
The other thing I am liking is the uniquness and the image. In a world of Landcruisers and Patrols its truly stands out in a nice way
i notice that Gargash are doing a buy back on the new Alfa range. Looks like a strong deal too.

I had similar feelings about the V40 re uniqueness - up until I tailed an identical blue one coming into the Ranches the other week. Oh well, still something different from all the Golf GTIs kicking around.
Overall, the car's bedding in nicely - though not without its quirks, the 8speed box can be a little slow to change when in manual/paddle mode, meaning I find myself double-shifting out of impatience, and then revving away from a roundabout in 1st instead of 2nd.
The stop/start function is great most of the time, but a bit challenging in the stupid crawl/go/stop/crawl traffic coming out of Al Quoz at the end of the day, so I usually switch it off then.
Internet Radio is an added bonus I didn't realise I had - connects seamlessly to the iPhone's hotspot and I then have access to actual proper radio stations, rather than the bilge on air here.
It's a bit cramped in the back for the little one - but that's mainly due to the oversized car seat she's in at the moment, will be getting something less bulky - and fully ISOFIX - to replace soon enough, and the buggy only just fits in the boot (shopping relegated to back seat), but as my daughter has decided she now wants to walk ALL THE TIME, that'll be going up on dubizzle anytime soon, so I'll have an actual boot once again. For normal sized adults, there's actually decent legroom back there as the backs of the front seats are well shaped.
So pretty pleased as a whole, and the car scrubs up well even in a carwash - on that note, there's a new fast wash place in Abu Dhabi that does a cracking job in less than 5 minutes for just 25dhs and no queues or fannying about in waiting rooms.
