Dear All,

I have just purchased a 2008 XKR and I need a recommendation for servicing etc please. It needs a new roofliner too and have been recommended a few places but I'm always open to suggestions.

Thanks

Sara autocare for the headlining and any interior work. Consistently good.

Xconcepts for paint correction/headlight restoration (guessing it needs it at that age). Ask for Adnan.

Gulf star trading in sharjah for parts. They sell all genuine JLR parts at around 1/3 of dealership cost. I was there today shortly after laughing at the guy behind the AT parts desk.

I self service so no help re: garages. However Saluki are very well respected and the owner is on here. AAA also know the engine well as they see a lot of LR’s. Lastly, i hear good things about autohaus in DIP.

Had horrible experiences with 2 of the garages on that list..pm me if you need to know which.

I ran a 2011 XK. it was fairly reliable. the only failure I had was a water pump. The dealers are awful for parts prices and Gulf Star are definately much faster and better.

Depends on how far gone the liner is, I had the sagging liner on my vantage repaired/re-glued at Majestic last year.

I was concerned if it would hold up but it's still perfect and a fairly inexpensive option - and colour matching to the existing sections was a nightmare too so glad I didn't have to go down that route.

I can guess but, TBH, there is not one garage in dubai with a perfect reputation. There are certain people you go to for certain jobs but having been let down very badly by a garage I previously trusted I now do everything myself, even on the daily driver which I previously abhorred working on.

my headliner sagged. it's foam backed and had to be fully removed to clean the foam.

Marzouqui in Abu Dhabi installed a new one. managed to get a perfect match. 3k from memory

Roof-liner, I cannot recommend Sara Auto more highly. Been dealing with Mohan for almost 10 years now, anything interior/exterior related, they get my vote. Did the faux suede headlining on my XF portfolio a few months back for AED 2k, I think. They also do minor mechanical work like changing the blower motor in my Toaureg.

For anything outside of regular servicing I take my cars to DAS Auto in Al Quoz. Heiki is a car nut, they don't always get stuff right but nevertheless they come across as an honest bunch.
