If you’re working in Dubai there’s zero reason to live in Abu Dhabi and several reasons not to.

200+ km a day, every day, with the worst drivers in the emirates for company. Gets very old very quickly.

The one thing I hate more than driving to Dubai is driving back when it’s busier.

There is just no reason I could think of TO do that. If you want to work in Abu Dhabi, live there, if you want to work in Dubai, live there. Doing that commute each day would be awful, the drivers bewteen those two cities are on another level of crazy (and I commute 130 miles a day on the M25 and M40 now). God will keep them safe so they can drive how they like.

Both are nice cities, but Dubai has more going on (stuff to do) in my opinion.

Work dictates where you live. It’s simple.

Ok thanks! Drive didn't seem too bad when i done it but it wasn't rush hour, I know what you mean about the drivers though they seemed to enjoy cutting people up just to return back to their original lane and swapping at the last minute.

It was mainly an idea as it looks like more jobs in my field are in Dubai but seems to be a few decent jobs in AD the more I look.

Dubai does appeal more to me but it depends where the wife gets offered more, as she has limited experience in her field and most want 2 years, shes pretty much looking to take anything, whereas I can be more selective and have a 30 minute commute at the moment (it was an hour until office moved)

thanks

Dubai to Abu Dhabi is about as boring as commutes get. Also one of you will be home around 5:30, the other between 7 and 8 depending on traffic. You will see at least one major accident per day and everyone who knows you will be sick of you moaning about your commute. It’s really not a good idea at all. Everyone I know who does/has done it hates/hated it. I’d do it if someone threw enough money at me, but certainly want my wife to have to deal with that st.

There’s a new school opens in dubai every 5 minutes. I have never met a teacher who’s been unemployed for very long.

Anyway, enough with reality, tell me more about these jobs where you can get 4 bed company provided apartments and a full benefits package with less than 2 years experience. I’m in.

Her sisters apartment is fully paid around 75k AED per annum, with flights etc, Her school doesn't hire without experience but are happy to take substitute teaching into account,

Unsure on the exact package she would be offered but even if they matched the 75k and we had to put some towards an apartment I'm happy

Places like teachaway advertise the packages with airfare, accommodations and health insurance,

Having worked and spent some time in AD and Dubai, my experience of Expat teachers was that most didn't last long (12-24months). Many complained about cost of living (even if accommodation is provided) and not being able to save.. Probably down to the regular brunches and Thursday night drinking..

75k per annum will get a place in Dubai, but the teacher salary (20-25k ish per month) doesn't go far imho

Don’t forget that the streets are paved with gold.

Most teachers are on around 15k a month, starting on less.

Sheesh not even sure how you'd live on 15k and we dont drink and have done one brunch in 4 months. Having 2 children might have something to do with it.....

Driving AD TO Dubai and vice versa is the biggest argument for autonomous vehicles.
