Further down you have the Burj and the Jumeriah beach hotel which is a bit 'chav' for my liking (went there yesterday for a bite at lunch-time and the amount of Burburry and soverign rings was alarming).

Great my first trip to Dubai flying on tuesday and staying at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel. Wasn't expecting that type of guest.
Burberry clothing and sovereign rings are a sign of affluence in the Middle East. Many wealthy people out in these oil rich states have absolutely no taste whatsoever. Have you seen that Burberry Maserati by any chance?

Not when worn by skinny, white kids from Essex smile

Not seen the Maserati but have seen a Corvette stingray with a Luis Vitton interior. Mmmm...stylish.

I've googled it but the results aren't very clear.

Thanks

There are two karting tracks, one at Dubai Autodrome (easy to find), the other in Al Ain (Al Ain Raceway) which is a bit of a sod to get to

J1 back in the UK after my trip to Dubai. Had a great time we stopped at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel great hotel the staff are very attentive but not intrusive. It didn't come across too stuffy which I thought it might. As for the guests (english) been chavy I saw a couple but the majority looked like ordinary British families. Had a look around the Burj awesome building but don't think I could relax there.
Spent an evening in the Irish Village on my friends stag night we were a little noisy and no one seemed bothered.
One of the restaurants la Parilla we had been looking forward to was closed for a refurb so a local suggested The Meat Co which was ok nothing great would have been upset if I had paid £50 per head in England for it.
One thing that struck was the air quality really poor which really affected visibility I had been there 2 days before it was clear enough to see one of the palm island adjacent to the Burj.
You really don't want to be too far from a pool as 41 deg is pretty hot. A short walk leaves your t shirt soaking. Will defiantly go back but at a different time of year.
Not sure how old you and your friends are but a few in our group were 20 they couldn't get in any bars. They seemed pretty strict on this.

Am I right in thinking soem hotels have exclusive access to parts of Jemeriah beach or something??

If so is there a large part open to all?

Some hotels do have private stretches of beach....and it'll cost you about 50 quids a day to use the facilities.

There is a few stretches of open beach but be aware....there is alot of poo in the water at the moment. It seems that some tanker drivers cannot wait in line to 'dump' their loads at the sewage plants (up to 8 hours wait) as they get paid by the load...so it goes down the storm drains.....

Cheap place to stay...try a 3 star in Bur Dubai or Deira, but it won't be that nice (and infested with hookers).
