Camera prices - Nikon DSLR's

Hello chaps,

My brother is heading off to sand land at the end of october and is looking to upgrade his DSLR Nikon D40; I know that some of you are ardent snappers so to speak so thought that you would know the best places to go for good prices of Nikon DSLR's?

They are staying in Dubai, along the SZ Road but can probably get a taxi to where ever you recommned.

Also looking at Omega watches, wheres the best places for those. I expect Asterix will be able to help on both these questions!

Can't really help with the Omega questions as I haven't enquired but there are plenty of boutiques all over the place and they'll all be able to do the same sort of deal.

Camera - I got a D80 last month (remember that they've just announced the new D90) with two lenses - 18-200mm & 70-300mm (I think) for just over AED 5,000 at the shop in Festival City mall. Sorry but I can't remember the name of the shop but it's on the top level near Magrudy's book shop.

had a quick look in currys yesterday and the D90 with a 35 - 105 lens was £799 if that gives you something to compare it with?

the UK pound had dropped like a stone this last month though, so suppose it will all be relevant to the money that you earn.

Al Fahidi street (think that's how it is spelt)is your friend. I have always got great deals on electronics there and you can barter.

Camera's here are freeking expensive in comparison to the rest of the world - I buy all of my stuff on-line at B+H.
