If you mention where you will be working we might be able to offer some suggestions as to where to look for an apartment.

...And about the Yaris. This is the motoring equivalent to you bending over and taking it up the wrong'un. Whatever you do... yield. Give way. Don't even think about using the fast lane and you might just survive....

Thanks for those comforting words oilydan. I am looking forward to it.... :-(

I have some good experience of driving little cars on Italian roads I am hoping this may help me a little

Work wise is uncertain yet as I am meeting a few people. However the most likely is pretty much opposite the Jumeriah Beach Hotel.

If you are working near the JBH you should look for appartments in the Jumeriah Beach Residence, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeriah or Al Barsha.

Villas in Al Barsha or Jumeriah 3 or 4.

yeah well i have been before for a holiday but this time it was more of a "could i live here?" exercise.

Well finding her a job should be easy to be honest, the getting married however is a bh!!

I've just been looking at dental jobs out there.

Would I find it harder as a single chick moving out to Abu Dhabi? Anything I should consider not mentioned on this thread?

Thank you smile

I cant see why it would be harder for you! If your indendent enough to want to make the move I'm sure you'd be fine! No different to the guys!

We've got a few female friends from back home that love it out here and have no problems.

Great thanks biggrin I've had a couple of patients say their wives didn't enjoy it out there. Just waiting to hear back from the agency, their ad was quite vague.

As said, no different to the guys - although you'd have a lot more choice!! laugh

I'm coming up to 5 months in Abu Dhabi, starting to feel like an old hand now when I speak to other 'newbies' out and about. That, I seem to have picked up the ex-pat cynicism of everything.

If you have any AUH specific questions, just shout.

One good book is the Abu Dhabi Residents Guide - my copy only arrived from Waterstones after I'd been here 3 months, but would've been very handy to read before I came here.
