I'm more than likey to be moving out to Dubai in the next 3-4 months. Never been out there so an bit of a unknown adventure.

I want a family villa (3 Bedrooms) with relative easy access to the World Trade Center

I've found a few at Springs and Arbrian Ranches, are these good areas? how long will it take for me to get from these areas to the World Trade Center. The rent seesm to be around 120-150k, is this ok?

Thanks in advance.

Closest areas would be Jumeriah, Al Safa, Umm Suqeim and perhaps Al Barsha.

Both the Springs and Arabian Ranches are further afield. I find any of the new 'estates' very boring - think 'The Trueman Show' or as I like to call it - 'Hilton Keynes'.

I live in Al Barcha 2 and love it. We have a single story 4 bed and it's quite quirky. All the surrounding villas, some of which are massive, are different - some nice but also a lot that are hideous! Gives you something interesting to look at though.

Thanks for the information, I've look at all areas but my wife leading towards a commmuity type estate as we have a young daughter.

My requirements are really space for cars etc as I want to indulge my passion of boats and cars, maybe get a sand rail.

The rents for some areas seem to falling, so may be able to pick up a nice house at a resonable cost.

Are there PH meets etc organised out there at present?

I live in the 'Ranches.

15 minutes from WTC if there are no incidents/accidents in between!! Actually has good access to all parts of town.

Plus the community has pools/play areas for kids, the local supermarket is pants but Spinneys has just opened in Motor City.......which is where the Autodrome is - 5 minutes from my door.

evolve.ae is a local forum site for all things cars/AutoX/meets.

dubaipetrolheads forum is frequented by the UAETCC/GT guys and most of the biking community.

Thanks Oilydan,

That website looks interesting and once i've made the move I'll sign up.

It seems the wife prefers the springs / meadows, so I think we will start there, we can always move if we don't get on with it.

Is biking safe in Dubai? as I'm hearing horror stories about the roads.

Springs/Meadows is just about to have a 'parallel road' running through it. This is essentially 4 lanes in each direction linking Al Quoz industrial area with the Jebel Ali Port/Cargo Terminal at the airport..... I moved when plans were announced!

Some excellent biking roads in the mountains, don't bother around town; they will all try and kill you.

We're in The Lakes which is part of the Emirates Hills/Meadows/Springs development but has no through roads and is easier to get in and out of. It's definately an 'estate' and I was dead set against it until my wife pointed out that if I didn't like really low traffic levels, the only noise being the birds in the trees, lots of greenery and a gym/bar/cafe within walking distance then I really was a grumpy st. That's a good point actually - you can even go for a walk around the block here which is impossible in a lot of places in Dubai.

Plus with the Lakes being at the SZR end of the development I can be on the beach in 5 minutes or at the office near Burj Dubai in 15. Been here 3 months and am really liking it so happy to pass on my experiences.
