This will be the next major event then I assume after ADGP.

What's it like - anything like Le Mans or a lot different? Are the dates set for it?

Nothing like Le Mans, but it's getting a lot more professional with teams starting to arrive from all over the world. The early days were virtually unattended but there's a bit of a buzz going on these days, which is great news for the local scene, especially in the light of economic conditions.

I pulled up on the starting grid last Friday and looked up to my left at the grandstands, and thought, what the feck are all these people doing here? That was just for a national race day, as opposed to an international level event, so I'm hoping next month's Motorsport Festival is going to be even better.

I would say when the FIA GT3 comes to town, the quality of racing is second to the ADGP, rather than the 24hr but this year could be surprising...

What about the spectator side, what do people do regarding night - do they camp?

Is there any kind of party atmosphere & beer tents etc, or just hardcore endurance racing?

It would be good to have a diary of events in the section so people are always aware of what's coming up - I'll stick one up in the Middle East section.

The atmosphere is unique, there isn't a huge spectator scene but it's a fun event to attend. I've been to the last two. No beer tents!

It's the only international event at Dubai this season and the number / type of cars makes it worth a trip.
