Drive through penalty was due to it was said I didn't close my door at pit stop --- which was longer than most at 1.13...But this was questionable as we thought we had. Didn't see the flag - so that was my bad
But due to the questionable and minor offence think they thought is was harsh enough with the 2 points on license..
Could have appealed but can't be bothered with the effort.
Asked if any penalty time would be added or position would be altered clerk said no.
I think im worse off with 2 points for ultimately not fully closing the door in pit.
I would defo let you take first in a class of 2 if you would take my points

I don't hold you responsible mate. I know it's tricky to see those pit signals. I thought they should have been shown under the main gantry halfway down the main straight.

In that situation, having done such a penalty would have affected the race outcome certainly. Otherwise, what's the point of penalties. Would we have won the class instead? Quite possibly, but not certain. So it's the way it was handled by the club that rankles.
Onwards and upwards. At least we got the car running properly and had an exciting race. You car seemed to be running well and you had a few decent battles too. Going to Brands? We're giving it a miss.
Cheers,
Rich.

The E46m3 had "grand father rights" to race in MC from the CSCC's previous race series, "Deutsche Marque" where there was no age restrictions.
I'm not on the Committee any more but I would have thought that the E46 should now be shifted in to "New Millenium" and that may happen after a one year grace period.
Thanks Andy - I did hear something about it being a one off or something. Think they raced in the Millenium series too.I'm not on the Committee any more but I would have thought that the E46 should now be shifted in to "New Millenium" and that may happen after a one year grace period.
Had a nice battle with a few cars through out the race...
Have a map sensor issue and loose power through the various points off the revs range.
Car is fast in a straight line but refuses to go round a corner .... Under steer is crazy. Being 4wd I'm not sure how to dial it out and do not have the time nor funds to test different setups with suspension/ alignment/ height ..
Doubt my driving helps either .... But following other cars around the track on the same lines and speed is just impossible.
Will have to start playing with mid corner braking and other techniques ti get rid of the under steer
Will be at brands hatch

Just downloaded the AIM Solo GPS Lap timer data from Silverstone. Our first use of this new bit of kit. Interesting comparison between Karen's best lap and mine. Karen's is in red and mine in green.

Not much in it. I brake later usually. Karen had a better entry into Brooklands, whereas I'd scrubbed off too much speed. However, I then always squirt the power into the final hairpin but she doesn't. I had the first stint so mine was heavier on fuel. The low gearing on our car is killing us on power circuits. We've got grunt coming out of corners but we're out of puff around 100mph.

Great video Richard. Challenging conditions at Brands yesterday, but some good close racing in-between yellow flags and safety cars!
A really mixed grid of cars as usual, but the weather levelled things a lot so the pace differentials weren't so great. Good for me as I had people to race and could both attack and defend, which made a nice change.
I probably had more fun in this race than any other and just about managed to keep it pointing in the right direction. A good battle with the Smart #52 and a yellow Elise (#20?) was the highlight for me.
Thanks to everyone involved for a good event - especially the overworked marshals!
Cheers/John

Glad to hear you had an enjoyable race, John!
Was sorry to see the incident in qualifying. Hope Rich was ok and his Celcia GT4 didn't suffer too much damage: http://www.davidstallardphotography.com/ClassicSpo...
I'll be keeping an eye out for race videos...
Cheers,
Rich.

I'm all good
Car is abit of a mess , first time I have got the car running ok in awile -- lasted 2 laps
Trying to find a donor car to do the repairs ... Sill damage etc is the major issue
Bloody hell Rich - Looks worse than I thought! :-o Glad you were ok!Car is abit of a mess , first time I have got the car running ok in awile -- lasted 2 laps

Has it affected the B-pillar at all? I'm assuming the sill is worse than it looks. :-(
That's a great shame. Seemed like good conditions for a proper 4WD turbo car like yours. Cool, damp, etc.
Despite the conditions it was a great weekend! My best bud James and I did our first ever circuit race in Tintops on Sunday and I'm glad conditions dried up for the race as it was scary enough in the wet in quali... Really impressed with the organisation of the club and we were made to feel very welcome by the organisers and fellow competitors alike.
Whilst we have a quick car (ep3 Civic Type R, car 27) our aim for the weekend was just to stay out of trouble and finish the race, which we did. Really looking forward to doing some more of these in the future; I'm looking to prep my 944 Turbo to race in Future Classics, but for the time being we'll be doing to odd Tintops race in James's civic.
Hopefully we didn't get in anyone's way!!

Rich, all of the 924/944/968 series handle fantastically well and the turbo has the grunt they need. Much underrated. Really wish I had not sold my road car.
See you sometime on track.
The turbo has the grunt, but it also has the uncanny ability to blow headgaskets. Don't ask me how I know... Having made 4 places in 3 laps and then getting hot on the heels of the two cars ahead of me I spotted the white smoke coming out of the exhaust... the engine was 6hrs old... Also, I absolutely hate the off-boost characteristics of a 2.5 8v 8:1 compression 1980s tractor technology lump. The only reason I am sticking with the 944T is its eligibility for the Youngtimer in Germany, which eventually should see me racing at the Ring. Give me a big NA bruiser like the RSR-ed 928 any day of the week...See you sometime on track.

I think you need to speak to Hartech in Bolton (?) or John Mitchell Garages in Bournemouth, I think.
I have only seen one reliable 944T race car and it was built by EMC It is all about the mapping, and in our case I think it was not as good as it could have been. As for the hardware, it is top notch. We will put a Cometic head gasket, re-visit the map and go from there. Though I still think that it is an inferior platform to the 928 - yet to see a UK race 944 in any form capable of beating Mark Chilton...Gassing Station | UK Club Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
