Just for information 750 had MX5 racing at brands this weekend with some oil around and wet and dry conditions and very few issues . Those that did occur were reported and actioned.
BMW compact cup also very few issues (apart from the one on its roof at paddock).
And you do not get a black flag on an MSV test day for 1 excursion whatever anyone on here says, here is the extract from the document issued by MSV for test days:

1st infringement Black/white driving standards flag warning
2nd infringement Black flag, report to control tower, final warning without penalty
3rd infringement Black flag, 20 minute track time exclusion
Further infringements Black flag, 20 minute track time exclusion

well we've just got JM's word for it then. I'm sure he's an untrustworthy fellow!

Earlier i said that I had a "top" driver in the car who made a mistake and ran wide. Then I apparently went over by a very small amount (half a tyre width) followed by this mistake. It's a clear mistake, I'm not trying to go faster, I'm correcting a problem.

And I was only shown a black flag and was given a 20 minute sin bin. No warning flag. Just blacked flagged and sent to the control room where I was shown 2 photos ( only 2 ).

It's also worth pointing out - that at the time of the contract of sale (the booking and confirmation) that there's no t&cs mentioning sin binning. If I had more time on my hands then I'd pass it to my solicitors just to prove a point.

Anyway - the video was to show that even making a small mistake will count for you being "sin binned" for 20mins and that surely cannot be right in anyone eyes, unless you're being paid by MSV

This is from last weeks test at Brands Hatch.
I forgot to mention that the track had been covered in oil from a Ferrari 360 that had dumped it's sump across half the track. This is my 3rd lap - so still building heat up into the slicks

I turn in, get a little bit of oversteer and I correct it and run a little wide. That earned me a black flag on a test day. Who in their right mind thinks that's correct ?

I don't see any advantage being gained here. Looks like you made a mistake and backed off a bit.

Looked like he would have spun if the correction hand't of taken the car over the kerb which is a point I made about 20 pages back but has been lost in the mists of time and space and t'internet.

one mentioned a number of times by a couple of us, and msv seem to be ignoring that point on here. penalise someone for cheating aka cutting or deliberately running wide for advantage ( i'd not give any free passes for that) certainly. penalise someone for making a mistake and possibly cause a big accident with them trying to avoid the grass no.

Woof I have to say it looks like it was not deliberate and a simple mistake on your behalf. Every race I ve done at Brands I've done the same at least once. That particular corner sucks you wide and you end up like you did, on the grass. You certainly loose time by going on the grass there !

We max5 racing have just had a weekend at Anglesey, I must say they were VERY fair.......

I had all wheels off (mistake) no penalty. I also used curbs without any problem.

But I'm dreading our next round at a msv circuit.
There's no reason why different standards should apply at different circuits. It's not the circuit owners who decide on how the rules are applied at race meetings, it's the organising clubs. If you race at a BARC meeting Oulton it will be the same marshals, clerks, etc., as you had at Anglesey, so you'll get the same fair treatment.

Another point I made about 20 pages back was that there was a plan to completely remodel that part of the track which met a lot of resistance, now that we are in the spin or get penalised game at that corner it won't take long for everyone to be so fed up with it JP could get a whip round to remodel the track.

That's ridiculous that you got flagged for that. That just wouldn't happen in a BARC BTCC meriting. Seems we don't all get the same treatment.

I can see how that is insanely frustrating. This is what I thought it would be like, but it just hasn't been the case. I don't know but club level Motorsport seems to attract more head teacher wannabies.....people who like rules and punishments.

Our COC is first and foremost a Motorsport fan, not a traffic warden in waiting.

Alonso at the limit - great racing / driving and entertaining

In Palmer's world he would have him black flagged.

Which is what happened at Snett, we all ran wide on the exit of sear at snett and most of us put 4 wheels over at russel on the second apex, then one day they start penalising us for it, then they have an excuse to remodel the track.

Reading through this thread it's become very apparent that some posters are indulging in the good old British pastime of knocking success. From a discussion of the new track limit rules it's deteriorated into a series of personal attacks on Jonathan Palmer; does that really add anything useful to the debate?

Not really. I believe there is genuine concern amongst the actual
racers on where this is all heading.

The dreadful "upgrades" to Snetterton being a case in point.

Definitely, only driven there once four years ago and Corum instantly became my favourite corner in the country now of course ruined into something completely different.
