Who's racing what in 2015?
Discussion
I put the Duratec up for sale at the beginning of the year, but it only sold after I won 3 out of the first 4 races in it this year. I have always had a share in the pinto car and when my partners decided to sell up, I thought I'd give it a go. Had one outing at Brands at the festival - big difference (I pitted in practice as I thought there was something wrong withe the engine, no power!), but good fun. A bit more like a formula ford.

Racing in my first series next year!
Doing the PBMWC which has been recommended by a lot of helpful PHer's!
Any advice you can give me on racing for the first time? I couldn't be more nervous!
There's nothing to be nervous about with us lot - everyone is friendly and the cars are slow. Just don't drive like a div and you'll be fine. Doing the PBMWC which has been recommended by a lot of helpful PHer's!

just remember that if the car is in one piece at the end, and you finish you'll be buzzing afterwards even if you finish at the back.
a test day is a significant step up from a track day if you want to get a bit more used to traffic, with overtaking on both sides and also overtaking in corners and braking zones.

I've never driven in proper traffic before on track which is why I'm nervous, I've done plenty of track days but obviously can only overtake from the left on the straights so I'm paranoid about being among 30 odd cars bumper to bumper for the first few laps with people coming past me from every direction during the bends!
I was feeling exactly the same as you when I started racing a couple of years ago, I was so nervous about having loads of cars around me 'racing'.For my first few races I ended up being really timid at the start, I lost some places when a few cars dived down the inside of me in the first few corners, I didn't block them, I just let them go, I just didn't want to crash into somebody in the first couple of corners of my first races.
After that though I just settled into a rhythm and concentrated on my own race. I soon caught cars that were slower than me and eventually overtook them when a clear opportunity presented itself. The race seemed to go by so quickly and when I got back to the pits the adrenaline rush was amazing, the buzz stayed with me for days afterwards.
I'm slightly more confident now at the start of races and won't give away places so easily, but I'm still concious that it's never worth fighting too hard because an accident just isn't worth it, and quicker cars will eventually get past anyway so it's not worth driving like a tool to hold someone up.
I think the best advice I can give you is awareness, try and keep aware of cars around you and whether someone is looking like they're about to make a move, you don't want to not notice a car closing in on you on your inside coming up to a corner, and then to take the racing line effectively closing the door on them and leaving them nowhere to go other than into the side of your car.
You'll love it though, I too had done loads of track days but the buzz from racing is so much higher.
