I'm going to a series this year where we'll be running from paddock rather than garages as I have been for some seasons - and so I'm looking for heavy-duty freestanding gazebo recommendations.

I've been recommended http://www.gazeboshop.co.uk/ by some mates in my old series - and theirs was indeed very sturdy and fast to put up.

Something around 6m x 3/4m with optional sides is what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance folks.

I got mine from here http://ezup-direct.co.uk/

Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Not a customer, but that's the same brand as mine, which is about 20 years old and still going strong, only a couple of little clips have been replaced. Spares were not a problem.

Also Surf and Turf here.

To be honest, most of the 'heavy duty' ones look very similar with hexagonal legs, ribbed spars etc.

Surf and Turf also.
Went for the steel frame unit and it has endured some very windy paddocks with no issues

I bought a one from surf & turf, expensive but good untill the wind got it, a new frame from surf & turf was very expensive so bought a one from here much cheaper than a new frame and turned out to be almost the same

The pro 50 looks like the model a few of the places sell. Its the same as the one i've got and know of 6 others using the same design.

I wouldnt go for anything smaller and lighter as they just get battered about and break.

I've had mine 5 years and the frame is fine, but i am looking for a new cover as they chafe on the frame in transport and tear after a lot of use

A bit OT but what are they like to manhandle? As a one man band, the 3x4.5 pro50 looks Pretty heavy and chunky to get in and out of a trailer.

They can be pretty heavy to man handle. I usually slide it out of the van in position (and then open it out). Would need a sack barrow to carry a one any real distance on your own. I am sure my neighbours think I am loading bodies into and out of my van as its inevitably being done in the dead of night or early morning.

... also should add, they are not always so easy to put up on your own or even 2 of you, usually have to grab someone else in the paddock to assist and then hold it while you weight the legs or tie down whatever.

I bought one of the steel ones from Surf and Turf, it got damaged the first time I used it (one leg got bent) so I repaired/strengthened that leg but the next time I used it all 6 legs got bent. They just can't deal with the wind in Scotland. It would be fine if you could peg them down and use guy ropes, but that just isn't an option on hard standing. Although you can buy spares from Surf and Turf, the cost of 6 new legs is pretty much what I paid for the whole thing in the first place.
I now use a 3x3m inflatable tent (part of a modular tent system from France) http://inflatable-tents.quechua.com/en_GB/product/... this has proved to be much more resilient (if a little smaller than I would like.
