I am often amazed at the combined knowledge of PH members, so...

... Mrs.T66 and myself are travelling to Shelsley Walsh on the 16th July for the Classic Nostalgia. We went last year and had a fantastic time, but stopped with friends prior to attending - they are not in the country this time around. This year our aim is to get there early and make a full day of it. The problem? As we are travelling down from Manchester, it means stopping somewhere en-route for a decent breakfast. I've spent two weeks looking for somewhere that opens early (7.30-8.30am), preferably not the rather grim-looking Frankley Services in Birmingham. Our route would be to leave the M5 at Junction 5, and head over to Shelsley Walsh via Ombersley/Holt/Great Witley.

I'm not sure if breakfasts are available at the event, so a re-fuel on the way might be the plan. Does anyone have any ideas?

Breakfast is available at the Stratstone Resteraunt at Shelsley for about £7.50 for a cooked one, which is in the courtyard with the water mill by the paddock. I would advise getting there early as we are expecting a big crowd on both days. We have other kiosks etc where you will be able to pick up a coffee and bacon sandwich as well.

We will be instigating a new parking and ticketing system and hopefully this will see an end to, or at least greatly reduce the queuing time for entry.

For anyone interested

We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for the information, Vocal Minority. We'll put off brekkie until we get to the event, in that case. Can I ask what time the Restaurant is open in the morning, if you have that info? Doesn't seem to mention it on the website.
Can't wait for the event - and we'll definitely be suitably dressed, whatever the weather!

We had a brilliant time there last year, Andy - fantastic atmosphere, and fantastic crowd and fantastic organisation. I'm hoping that my Ford Puma gets into the classic car section this year, though. biglaugh

Attended this event (and Shelsley walsh) for the first time and had a great weekend. Travelled down from Retford and stayed overnight in Worcestor as I wanted to do both days. Well worth it, really good event, great atmosphere, people, cars and competition. What more could anyone want. Already looking forward to and planning my next visit.

Auto Union C Type - V16 driven by Hans Stuck 80 years after his father drove a similar C Type at the hill- fantastic sound.

I went on Saturday and was blown away by Mannic Beattie. I know it's been around for a while but it was the first time I'd seen it in the flesh. Mind boggling

Great day on Saturday, the Shelsley big meeting seems to get better and better. Here's a few pictures I took of the Auto Union.

Apart from the Auto Union which was a piece of art , and the group b cars ( most of which were cruising up the hill ) it wasn't a particularly exciting event . I was really looking forward to it and was quite disappointed .Too many Austin Sevens . And the Spitfire flypast ... well that was what it did I suppose . Ho Hum .
We could have done with a full on attack in the S1 to commemorate 1986 with Mikkola . Now that was special .

That's really a shame. Unfortunately it's a steep hill and classic and vintage cars being what they are.

Can I recommend you try on 20/21 August for the British Championship,

The intensity goes up a couple of notches.
