We are using the softest compound possible. I think the M3s are on the harder compound as they go out mostly in the dry.

We (as in the BMW Compact Cup) use the NS2R, we use the 180 compound. It seems counter productive but its actually better in the wet than the softer compound. Tread blocks don't move around as much under braking/cornering so disperse water out a bit better. Same reason applies to the dry. However also worth noting we don't allow tyre shaving so this makes a difference. If you are allowed to shave them then the softer compound maybe better.

The M3's use the harder AR-1, the 330's too!
Thanks guys, i'm running the medium 120 compound on small light historic GT car, you both have different experiences and schools of thought about these tyres, maybe I should stick with what i have have as best compromise compound.

With tyres it is all dependant on the car, circuit and conditions.

I was at Donington over the weekend and it rained at the beginning of our re-started race. Put on the NS-2R and went from 6th to 1st by the exit of the first corner. Then lapped 2.5s over the rest of the field until I nearly ran out of fuel...

Sure the 4wd had a lot to do with that, as did the lines I took, but the tyres also are a factor here. I made dam sure I worked them really hard on the outlap so they were as hot as they possibly could be before the lights went out. I am rendering the long version now but here is the short one: https://youtu.be/DBMgupBVXAg

Thats very impressive, my mate was out in one of the Adams and Page Swinging Sixties races in his very powerful v8 TVR Griffith and he had horrendous grip problems in the rain, not surprisingly, ending in a big off retirement in similar conditions.

I used to have a UR quattro, the Integrale took that concept a few stages further.

Oh yes, didn't notice at first but right hand on throttle, wow that takes some doing, especially in those conditions.

Do you have to have a certain amount of tread at the end of the race? I thought they required 1.6mil to start only...
A scrutineer was checking tread depth with a gauge last weekend before PBMW qualifying, first time I've seen that happen.
No he wasn't checking tread depth at all...
