Glad you liked it, you both looked like you were having fun - as were most of the competitors. I was on the Stop/Go (Cones 11).... plenty committed driving going on.
Thankyou for standing in the freezing cold all day! I did find the placement of the stop/go in the tests after lunch somewhat strange. (especially when I got pissed off and took the dodgy corner nearly flat) velocemitch said:
It interested me that once again the MSA avoided Road Rallies. Disregarding the fact that a navigational rally is practically the same thing. Do they consider you can’t do a road rally in a standard car, or is that they don’t want to admit they still exist.
Putting hill climbing and sprinting under "speed" rather than skill will probably slight a few, overall a strange diagram.. Fantastic time at the Washingpool Targa a few weeks back. Was worried when I saw it was mostly grass but some fantastic fast and flowing tests with top notch organisation. Bonus that I managed to pick up 1st in class (novice) and 9th overall in the little Micra!
Next run out for the Micra is unknown of now, need to remove the ton of dust from the interior and check what damage I did when I came down hard on the sump guard, spotlights (mounted to the front crash bar) have moved up so not going to look pretty... Mate on 2nd driving duties manaed to give the micra its first battle scar too..
Got the Cotswold targa on Sunday, usual nav/2nd driver cant do it so I've convinced a friend to have a go in my mx5, let see if his opinion of rallying (boring, you don't race against anyone) changes come the end of the day...

I’ve not contributed to this thread before as I’ve only just come across it, having done my first Targa last week at Rushmoor. Absolutely brilliant fun
I have an E36 316i Compact, and I’m just about to swap in a 318ti engine for a bit more oomph.
I’m in Berkshire, not far from Rushmoor in fact, and my club is FDMC. Which events are essentials for next year ? Bramley in March is “our” next Targa.
Bramley is a great event, unsure we'll have the snow like we did this year though! I think that will be our next event too.I have an E36 316i Compact, and I’m just about to swap in a 318ti engine for a bit more oomph.

You're not too far away from the targas run by chelmsford motorclub, also a trip down the M4 from a few near Bristol, such as the Washingpool targa.
Theres also a few at Kemble airfield in the Cotswolds run by Bath motor club.
You're alot closer to the targa action than I am in Coventry thats for sure!
Forgot to mention our last targa of the year, the bonfire targa at Wethersfield Airfield. Run like clockwork, as usual for Chelmsford MC.
My first event as an "Expert", so any expectations to win a pot were already gone!
We struggled on some of the more open stretches (only 58hp in our wagon) but the more technical sections were fantastic, especially the tests around the narrower storage facility section. So ended up with a big difference in test classifications (40+ in the open tests, 23+ in the technical ones) to end up 5th in class, but another great day rallying and the car was faultless again
Also finally got an oppo shot!

Yeah I still have the mini, replacing the outer sills on it as we speak but generally it's been pretty good, and not let us down.
Just looking for something a little newer so I can use the mini on the gentler events and then use something else on rougher events so as to save having to spend a lot of time on maintenance and prep of the mini.
I'd recommend a micra if you want dependable on rougher events. Ours has been bulletproof despite being standard. You'll need to replace sills on that too, though..
