Been looking at these gearboxes for circuit racing, look good value. Anyone got any recent experience/knowledge?

Elite do quite a bit of gearbox stuff for us from ratios to selector bits and most things in between. We've always had very good service from them. I've never used one of their complete gearboxes but I'd be happy to if I had something to put it in based on the work they've done for us and others on F1 gearbox components - about half the BOSS grid are running on Elite made bits at the moment I think!

I bought a new one with all the extras, spray bar ect, it was the worst thing I have ever bought in my life, I had nothing but trouble with it, honesty look else were, we now run sadev in the Caterham and they are in a different league, they are cheap for a reason !

Call Pip at WGT Auto developments if you want a second opinion, he has a box that won't work .

I know that some of the earlier Elite gearboxes had issues.

I also know that a number of people have attached their gearboxes to engines that exceeded the torque rating...and then complained when they broke.

With the exception of the linkage on my one, it didn't really have any significant issues. It was certainly more reliable than the Quaife conversion I had previously.

Yes, if you have the money you can go for Hewland/Sadev. If you can't afford too then an Elite box with the correct torque rating should be fine.

They knew exactly the engine that my gearbox was going behind and it's power, they advised it would cope no problem, but it was a problem as it kept braking all time.
