I spent far to long yesterday watching your videos .

That puma seems to be doing really well even against the civics , any idea what mods he's done on it ?

Sorry completely missed this. The Puma has the usual Sigma engine upgrades and is around 190bhp ish. But it’s secret weapon is it’s make of tissue paper and weighs in at 926kg

If you like my videos I’ve just posted up the next round of the championship. Lydden Hill last week. Epic, epic racing.

I don’t know its complete history although I know Dominic (the owner) built the car for this championship but don’t know if it had a previous life?

I understand there have been Clios in the past in the Championship, just not currently.

The orange one is my car. It's a 1.6 Zetec SE putting out 200bhp with a Quaife non-sequential gearset (4.9 final drive) and a gripper diff.

It has GAZ gold shocks, wilwood brakes on the front and a tilton pedal box. It weighs in at 950kg with me (85kg) in it which is 25kg over the weight limit for the class.

I built it from scratch 5 years ago as a 1.7 but with the way the rules are that put me in the same class as the 2 litre cars plus I had to carry 100kg of ballast (the same issue that Jamie is faced with with his 1.8 Honda) so at the beginning of the year I completely rebuilt it as a 1.6 with all the other mods. I've won 13 races over 2 series this year so far and I couldn't be happier with it's performance.

I've just had to rebuild the gearbox as the 3/4th selector broke and the cam belt tensioner snapped at the same time taking out a couple of inlet valves but it's ready to roll at the next round at Brands on the 27th.

Awesome , it's great to see people still racing puma's .

Other than the puma cup you just don't really see them that much .

There's usually at least two in our series and sometimes four as the Supatune ones race in the production class.

They're great little cars but getting harder to keep going as spares dry up. Another reason for moving to a 1.6 engine.

The BARC Tin top championship has 3 (Dom and Ade as in this thread) and a black one driven by Andy Burton that is in the Production car class (he’s only done one round this year so far).

If it's my Puma your mentioning then it's mostly built around the regs for the TinTops. There have been Clios in the past but they always seem to have engine issues.

Cheers

It's a lovely car which has had a huge amount of time and money invested in it. I would have loved to have a race against it at some stage but last I heard he was going to break it.

Very different set of technical rules to what we race under in the South East series though.
