test day I would imagine, Think the 'dayer's aren't due out til next week. Does it sound busy?

I am hoping to get to Brands on Friday to test my race car, place is booked and confirmed just hoping nothing untoward happens between now and then.
Trackdays starting from today at MSV circuits.

We are also testing at Brands on Friday, weather is looking nice, I initially thought it may be quite quiet. Not so sure as I know of a few people booked on to it.

are you bringing the TreVoR?

it's been a long time since I tested at Brands ( plenty of races and track days but not tests), I think the last time I tested was Feb 2010!

I haven't got a garage so, assume I park in the out paddock? Also how many sessions ( afternoon only), IIRC I think 2 at 45 mins but I could be wrong?

Hi Chris
Entry fees for 20min quali & 2x20min races should be a max £400

We have a great bunch of drivers who are very clean and fair.....I have an RX8 and I know of about half dozen others so once we get out it will be a great race

Edit
For clarification that's 6 or 7 RX8's
8 mk4 mx5's
Various mk1 & mk2 mx5's
6 or soo mk3 mx5's

Yes the MK1 Mexico is all ready to go and tested, have a new final drive ratio in the Cerb so wanted to test that and I still feel there is some time in some more suspension tweeks.

If your not in a garage then Brands will ask you to set up in the paddock. Not sure on the format of the day yet, sometimes if your lucky you can get 3 afternoon sessions. Most likely two as you said though.

What are you driving?

Yes but only half the amount of permits to be issued compared to normal, ie half the amount of events, to reduce pressure on marshals and officials numbers. No national series until 1 August either.
All subject to Government guidelines.
And, we don’t know whether we will be allowed to do overnight stays yet.

an ultra high powered and very exotic Peugeot 106 hehe Just got the sign in forms and yep, I'll be in the bottom paddock, garages don't look full however so not sure there will be loads or people out on Friday. But maybe more saloons than SS.

Afternoon only for me so 2x 55 min sessions. let's see if the old girl can still do it.

testing rules for this week and near future state no overnight camping, on or near the facility. I don't think camping will be allowed until next year. No big deal and probably a winner as it means that if you are doing 2 races they both have to be on the same day. Also you'd have to be pretty committed to travel to test on the Friday, disappear and then come back Saturday. So maybe a more even playing field,

I think it is a big deal - the club I race with have all their qualy and races on one day but still plenty of people travel a long way on the Friday evening or Saturday evening ready for the an early start next day. Not many live close enough to a circuit to travel on the day of the meeting, I would suggest. If I can’t camp overnight or stay in a local b&b/ travel lodge then I am not going to Thruxton for example.
I will be ok for Donington and Mallory.

I was thinking the same, c.3hr drive for a full day of racing sounds like heavy enough going despite the early start.

It’s a big deal if you live in Carlisle!

Going to be no quick fixes here and the same may apply in 2021. Many people going to make tough choices and numbers are bound to be well down. But if at least some racing doesn't happen asap we may be missing some clubs and venues.

Why in the Motorsport UK recommendation for PPE don't they say everyone should wear a mask if social distancing cannot be observed?

I think that's just poorly written with more of a focus on the officials and volunteers to protect them, leaving the competitors and their teams out of the guidance a little. It says "Use appropriate PPE where indicated" but then doesn't indicate.

As a team (and therefore you're likely to be a business) you'll be following your own Health and Safety requirements, as you would do for normal operations without being dictated by MSUK. For other individuals attending you should follow the advice of the UK government, I'm not sure the MSUK would suggest to do anything different unless they are required to do so.

I don't really get the no over night stay over.......it's safer than driving 3 or 4 hrs to a circuit, racing all day then the same 3 or 4 hrs home.....plus anyone stopping over will usually have a motorhome with its own shower & toilet.

Have I missed something?
